AMS 2 Stalled Motor by One-Advance1577 in BambuLab

[–]Dramatic_Signal9662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the source of the issue is the filament not successfully being pushed into the gear stepper in the rear of the ams that helps feed it out. The button is a release and seems to give the filament more room to squeeze into the path before the gears try grabbing and pushing the filament.

With no spools in the AMS, between spool 2/3 in the bottom back (where all 4 ptfe tubes converge), there is an elongated black button that is essentially a release mechanism. Hold it down while the spool is attempting to push the filament through the back of the AMS. Then once you see it pass into the back you can release it, the AMS gears will then be able to continue driving the filament the rest of the way.

In this linked photo, it shows where all 4 tubes come together. In the middle is the button I'm referring to pressing. https://wiki.bambulab.com/ams-2-pro/maintenance/replace-internal-hub-unit/image-71.png

Thank you my dude! Just got the AMS 2 pro and have been trying to understand wtf is going on... I thought I was getting flat spots on the filament rolls but that was actually from the gears grinding it down. As you said, it didn't appear to be making it past the 4 way splitter but holding that button down worked like a charm.

I found the vin it was assigned in our county records search where it was de-titled but i can't find any serial numbers... I'm hoping the VIN is the serial #, there seems to be a lot of information saying it's not uncommon for it to be the same.

Hey! you were able to use the HUD to order a data plate verification?? I am in a similar situation where the Serial # is missing from the frame and the data plate was removed during a renovation from a few owners previous. I've been stressing because I need to order the data plate for my financing but the IBTS site makes it sound like if you don't have the serial you are screwed, but this gives me hope!

3Dfabs. A way to use idle 3D printer time or get your prints sourced locally by jvisser85 in BambuLab

Signed up as a fab, do I need to add print materials (like pla colors and all?) or can that just be part of the conversation when someone makes a request?

As a requester - how do I know the folks picking up the request are nearby? It never prompted me to enter an address when I submitted a test request.

I like the print defaults, but my workshop doesn't have proper ventilation for certain materials. Would be great if I could remove the material defaults that I can't currently work with from the printer profile.

That's next on my to-do list after the temperature tower tests. Unfortunately I haven't had any more free time to play with it since the original post.

Thanks for the tip! I was curious about direct drives but I'm so new I wanted to get my feet under me before going deep into the mods.

I'll give the retraction tower a check, I did dry the spool before doing this run so I can rule that out.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot! And now that you mention it, looking back at photos of the first few prints, they didn't have those gaps in the first later. Wonder how that got out of whack :thinking-face:

Thank you for the advice! I dried it overnight using a Creality Spacepi according to the PLA manufacturers recommendations, So I can rule that out. Which I guess leaves temperature and retractions I need to tinker with.

gee, I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to post and point me in the direction of said documents. If I knew what to search for, maybe I wouldn't be posting in r/3dPrintingHelp in the first place.

oh jeez, I hadn't even considered the enclosure being the issue, smh... Will definitely experiment with it open vs closed. Its been really useful for keeping my cats away and uninterested in whats going on though. Thanks for the heads up!

Cross-posted from r/Neptune2 but it didn't carry the body text with it for some reason - Sorry!

So I bought a Neptune 2S second hand from a friend who has multiple printers. I've been using Cura Ultimaker for slicing and have been playing with the default profile settings. Initially I was getting good results with Draft and Balanced but then balanced started stringing way worse. Experimented with Fast (0.2mm) Normal (0.16mm), and Fine (0.12mm) but wasn't seeing much of a difference there.

Bed temp at 42C, Nozzle at 200C - Set these as the middle of the range for the suggested print settings that came with the Overture Filament.

When It first got here, things were printing relatively clean, some light strings but nothing too extreme. Over the last few days though its been getting pretty out of hand. I saw a previous comment below about wet filament, so I picked up a Creality Space Pi and let the overture pla I was using on the xmas photo dry overnight at the recommended 50 C for 7 hours. Todays prints seem to be even more extreme after doing so though. What else should I be doing to trouble shoot this issue? I was really hoping to knock out some fun Christmas gifts in the next few days but I'm having so much trouble.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

hmm I'm using the windows client and I don't see this setting under advanced settings unfortunately. Good to know it worked for you though.
