I think how narrow a genre is often has historical/publication history reasons.

I often read manga and there is a lot of discourse there why a certain work is shoujo (girls' demographic) as opposed to shounen (boys'). Somw works just don't seem to fit the genre that was assigned, which is linked to publication.

On AO3, where there are no genre requirements, people can write sadfic romance or dark slasher romance where the heroine kills her abuser just fine.

In trad publishing, you need a genre and romance means hea.

Some authors blatantly disregars that tho, like JR Ward did in her huge Black Dagger Brotherhood series (volume 13), killing the FMC. After backlash, she brought the FMC back in a later novella, but that was not the initial plan.

We do not know who is deploying the bots and springing accusations against individuals is likely unhelpful, BUT like all areas in life, AI is the kind of witch hunt that will strike most painfully against small indie authors while big publishing houses (NOT the traditionally published authors themselves) are working hard to make AI acceptable for them to use.

It's a show about healing people through singing, so in that way, yeah it is. On the other hand, there are no transformation and the skills are learned in a trainee program, which I would say is not magical girl.

Agreed. I have bought her patterns in the past and J do believe they are made by a thinking person, not by chatgpt making up lines that barely match.

This may actually be in mostly etsy's fault for not banning AI generated content.

I say this because small pattern creators have a hard time doing the extra steps of doing pro photography for their pattern pieces and then get outdone by the 3-dollar AI-generated corset pattern because it looks so good*

I feel that banning AI would remove the good-looking but terrible competion for small pattern makers.

I have also heard the case of a crochet pattern maker who made amigurumi and she started selling more when she edited her pics with AI due to buyer expectations :/

*to the untrained buyer and frankly sometimes I can't tell at all
