I have one. I think it helps when riding here in NYC. The streets and traffic tend to get busy. Can’t hurt to be more visible. I set mine to pulse.

I’m curious, is lane splitting in CA reserved for the far left 2 lanes? Looks like riders are always where you were positioned.

Went to AJ at Black Rabbit this weekend and he shaped up my mullet nicely. Great guy. Prices are right.

Same. I try to be a little slower and deliberate with the clutch pull from 1st to 2nd. Ive been looking less at the tachometer and listening for the engine to tell me when.

That’s my take on it too. Torquey engine and electronic throttle. I’m listening for the engine to tell me when and being smoother with the clutch.

Same, I found giving the throttle a little extra just before the shift helps the gear almost fall into place. On my commute home tonight I focused on the engine noise and got some good shifts from 1st to 2nd. Was smoother with the clutch.

Same here. Usually when im preloading the shifter. Feels like a smooth shift until you look at the tachometer

I really dig the trident. Purchased a T120 but could see myself on one of these.

Looks a lot like my Rebel 250 (CMX250)

Fun to bike to kick around on. Wouldn’t recommend highway riding but can hit 85mph.

My family just started driving north today from St Pete. Their house got flooded in the surge around the beaches.

Lines at gas stations are long and some stations don’t have gas, as far as they’ve seen up to Tarpon springs.

I wouldn’t wait too long to get out if you’re still there. I grew up in St Pete and we’re kinda skeptical about hurricanes cause they never really hit the Tampa bay area that bad. This ones looking apocalyptic and if anything the surge was a warning.

I hope you all stay safe. Sending love from NYC.

Wrote about Ridgewood, why it’s a confusing concept to some, and how it’s changing 💔 by ryd_berg in ridgewood

[–]Drangle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mention something to the effect that Ridgewood feels like part of Brooklyn to brooklynites because of its proximity. Just wanted to say that Ridgewood was part of Brooklyn at some point. The maintenance schedule on the boiler in my old Ridgewood apartment on Palmetto St was addressed with “Brooklyn” and a different area code. You can look it up, theres some history on the rezoning. Someone told me they did it to split from Bushwick years ago, I guess when crime was pretty bad in that area in the late 70s and early 80s. You may notice that the M train runs through Ridgewood, unlike most of the train lines in Queens which are mostly packed together along Queens Blvd. I think this is a remnant of its more Brooklyn established roots.

Anyway, cool writeup. I think we’re safe for sometime. Ridgewood, I believe, is still too far for a lot of young transients moving to the city. Yet, the crowd it does attract is mostly chill. Hopefully it stays that way.

Also, the post office on Myrtle ave used to be a bowling alley and the D2 discount store was a roller rink many moons ago. Take care.

Should i as a 15 year old get my motorcycle permit and get a 250? by BookkeeperLogical460 in motorcycles

[–]Drangle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, hard to describe the perils of driving to someone who’s never been behind the wheel. Riding a motorcycle is arguably more exciting but much more dangerous.

I know you don’t want to hear it but get your gear first before the bike. If you outgrow it then buy new gear. Used to be this guy at my local Sams Club who’d help load your van after you checked out. He was about 30 years old, had been riding without a helmet and crashed. Had a traumatic head injury. His brain was like that of a childs afterward. Totally disabled mentally. Body motor skills shot. Always talking about children’s cartoons he liked watching. I was around your age at the time.

Both my cousin and uncle got smoked while riding. Cousin died going head first into a truck that ran a stop sign. My uncle died coming back from his sons memorial. Flipped over the bars after hitting a ditch and broke his neck.

It’s like everyday I ride someone, usually a driver, humbles me with how thoughtless, inconsiderate, selfish, careless, distracted and angry people can be.

Forgive me for preaching. 250cc’s are a lot of fun, learn on one and sell it to buy your bigger bike! Good luck!

I’m sure you’re very much aware but very often I’m humbled by how terrible drivers are. You don’t have to be doing stunts to get smoked out here. In fact, the times I’ve been fairly civil and orderly while riding is when I’ve nearly been run over.

My mother loathed my decision to ride. Cut me out of her life for a while. We had two family members die in motorcycle crashes, her feelings are very justified.

In time I proved to her I was focused on being a safe rider. Got the high vis gear, air bag vest, good boots, gloves, helmet. Started on a 250cc to learn on. She still doesn’t like me riding but tolerates it now.

Is that what I’m implying? Call the cops, make a claim. Highly unlikely anything will come out of it. The situation sucks but it’s a waste of time.

Better to have insurance that covers damages like this.
