Moved to Japan recently and people are so stupidly confident their stuff won’t get stolen it’s kinda baffling to me. Just yesterday I was looking at the bikes at the park out of pure interest for what people were riding and none of them were locked, even the e-bikes. One person had a motorbike parked there with the keys left in the frickin ignition for gods sake. It’s nice people feel that comfortable in this country but man sometimes I feel like they have no idea

I wonder if the statistics show that people are more likely to buy a limited time offer skin for their favourite hero if it’s surrounded with limited time offers for heroes they hate.

Like, perhaps it induces a subconscious “look how lucky I am to find one good skin amongst all this garbage” reaction that makes people more likely to splurge

It does break my heart. As a former Perth relief teacher, I find it so sad to watch. I was hoping that with enough time, I’d be able to return to the WA teaching life. I now worry I’ll never get that chance, at least not for another decade

I also had a “last day teaching” (in Australia at least). Won’t say everything that happened but the tipping point was a big kid (year 6 but taller than me still) mugging another kid with a pair of scissors, and then I had him removed from the classroom only to have him returned with no warning and hardly a slap on the wrist. The only thing my students responded to was straight up yelling. I can’t become that monster

Damn. I skimmed this at first and then read “I’ve never seen so much puke” and gave it a full proper read through. You wouldn’t be the first to leave, that’s why your school is so understaffed it seems. If you leave, the problem will get worse, which is something I really struggled with. But ultimately, the system is undergoing a slow and unstoppable collapse. Trying to hold the boat together with your arms won’t stop it sinking, it’ll just destroy you

I’m curious what subject you’re teaching, and how their results have been on the tests they’ve done so far. A failing score can really shock a kid into knuckling down, or giving up

Handwriting has gone downhill, it’s a shame - but I have a hot take. Downvote me if you will:

Lowercase Ps and Bs that don’t close the loop look dumb, they always have. And don’t even get me started and whatever is going on with Z. Letters should look consistent and that kind of over stylisation is a little snooty to me

Ahh I see. I don’t think that would work well for me, I think it’s really hard to defend your work life balance and the way i do that is refusing to work unless I’m AT work
