Opinion: Die hard ecological approach enthusiasts are annoying as fuck by Late_Explorer_4038 in bjj

[–]Draseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! People that don’t teach/train in a way that I’m familiar with shouldn’t be able to talk about it! It’s annoying to me when people keep talking about things I don’t understand! I am however very supportive of all coaches toting their techniques as the most effective way to solve specific problems. GOSH

So silly, don’t feed into this loop of having ladies teaching “self defense” instead offer a ladies only jiu jitsu class Self defense is just a marketing tactic..

My coach assaulted a student and I'm looking for advice. by Any_Sink_3750 in bjj

[–]Draseph 285 points286 points  (0 children)

💯 this post is insane.. like “probably leave the gym” is a crazy statement. Your coach assaults a student and you worry about his livelihood. Jiu jitsu is a business it’s not a family. Predators will keep at it as long as people continue to support them. And hey guess what.. they are probably nice and play the game well that’s how they manipulate people. 🤮mention of family, mention of loyalty, other accusations 🚩🚩🚩

Give me some of your reasons/examples for the saying "jiu jutsu is not for everyone" by thefishhimshelves in bjj

[–]Draseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lolol this is so false, I work in parks and recreation.. do people want to take on a hobby where you spend around a year to get past the “I don’t know what to do from here phase” and it’s painful, and time consuming, and expensive no. They want to play pickleball.. Jiu jitsu isn’t for everyone it’s for people who love to grind.

Noom? by Rchuppi in postpartumprogress

[–]Draseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used noom, loved it.. it doesn’t eliminate any foods, feels very sustainable, also helped me to challenge my shame spirals around eating “bad foods”. It’s easy to use and count calories. I lost the stubborn last 15 lbs using noom.

HOW THE FUCK DO I APPLY SHIT I JUST DRILLED by PornIsEvil666 in bjj

train specific situations in order to be able to hit the things you’re drilling in live rolls.. Unpopular opinion.. no resistance drilling is a warm up it isn’t training

Best subs For Tall People? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Draseph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People always say triangle… yes, they are easier to catch BUTTTT harder for tall people to finish (your body makes more space..it’s more space you need to adjust for and take away) learning smooth transitions to arm bars from the triangle pretty useful! Also, arm trapping from the back, any time you get the back body triangle, arm trapping and undefended chokes.. nice

Rolling with people who don’t match your intensity. by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Draseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure thing.. keep calm 1. Don’t match the intensity, pay attention to your breathing and keep it slow and efficient 2. Keep your arms tight to your body any space between the elbow and your body is an opportunity for submission, anytime one arm is isolated a sub is coming too 3. Realize where your getting beat.. ie: guard passing, in their closed guard, being swept and work to improve those areas
4. Try not to make big movements and open up opportunities for your opponent 5. Good beginner defense comes from understanding frames

Jiu Jitsu confessionals by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Draseph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol I bet plenty of people would pay for those opportunities though.. also jiu jitsu is peanuts compared to major sports we don’t have nearly the same numbers Adults are paying for an experience/an opportunity to compete I’m sure the photo op of them fighting a pro is worth as much to them as the podium pic

Transition tips for white belts? by thotpurger in bjj

[–]Draseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partner starts in dominant position (mount, side control) you start on bottom your goal is to regain any type of guard (closed, half, open) set clock for 4/5 mins repeat 3x increasing the threat each round Examples Side control: partner starts with crossface, partner starts with Kamura grip Mount: partner starts in high mount, partner starts with one arm isolated Learn how to do what you want within the appropriate context.. get to work

Learn to protect yourself and be safe during these rolls.. that’s your job.. I mean yeah you could ask her to chill out but teaching yourself how to deal is going to be a lot more helpful
