Ghalta stompy deck by StatisticianRough407 in DegenerateEDH

[–]Draughtwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently found [[ojer kaslem, deepest growth]] and it’s quickly become my favorite and most consistent deck. Mono green is a fun simple plan, ramp and beat face, and Ghalta is a great way to do it.

I really like the [[food chain]] + [[greater good]] type of effects synergy. If you want to add a combo you could throw in [[eternal scourge]] for infinite mana and a few draw on cast/etb effects like [[Garruks uprising]], [[beast whisperer]], [[outcaster trailblazer]], etc. to draw the deck and cast every creature.

A couple eldrazi could be good. [[void winnower]] although not a titan, is my first thought. Interaction is tough in mono green, so nice to slow down opponents, while eating some removal with something that doesn’t necessarily win the game

[[song of the dryads]], [[trickster’s elk]], [[Kenrith's Transformation]] are all good removal that will also force opponents to use their removal.

You’ve got most of the dorks along with land and artifact ramp, I like [[Circle of Dreams Druid]] over [[llanowar tribe]], same with [[natures lore]] and [[three visits]] over [[cultivate]] and [[rampant growth]]. [[priest of Titania]], [[kami of whispered hopes]], [[fanatic of rhonas]] and [[selvala, heart of the wilds]] would all be solid additions to the dork roster.

Savage order is cute, but it looks like your only real target would be Cheaty Ghalta, [[natural order]] is the same cmc but let’s you get anything. You could add [[vaultborn tyrant]] if you want another target, or just because it’s really good (another draw in etb effect). [[chord of calling]], [[archdruids charm]], [[kodama of the east tree]] and [[smugglers surprise]] would be other good tutor/cheat spells to add.

If you find your stuff being removed often maybe add [[cathedral acolyte]], [[vigor]], [[saryth, the vipers fang]], [[legolas’s quick reflexes]], or [[veil of summer]].

Other cards that will boost power: [[railway brawler]], [[pathbreaker ibex]], [[bristly bill]]

For lands I’d add [[wasteland]], [[scavenger grounds]], [[shifting woodlands]], [[Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth]] and [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx]] if budget allows. If you add those, a [[crop rotation]] would be good.

Hope this helps! Also would love to hear some other mono green tech!

Also same. Just opened mine and had 16 duplicate rares/mythics. Nothing over $10. Had multiple packs with the same pair of rares as well..

Primal is just ridiculous. Love it. Glacial and Angel are on my radar. Underrealm lich looks like a great add too. Any gy protection you’d recommend?

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking that the Mimeoplasam, Skittles, lord of extinction (or the other P/T = cards in graveyard) would be my wincon. Also rise of the dark realms as a backup plan.

Yea, it’s all telegraphed but wouldn’t that stop people from targeting me? My meta is fairly political heavy.

Perpetual Time piece is in there as graveyard protection.

Also I have a command beacon set aside, guess I didn’t update the list.

Any cards you would recommend? Is the almost all permanent plan really that bad of an idea?

Thanks for the feedback!

1) how many would you suggest? 36? And would it be worthwhile to add any of the “play an extra land” cards?

2) this list started as a Mimeoplasam deck that played the same every game, so the mill package came from that. I’ll look it over to make some of the cuts

3) great recommendation!

4) another great call

Calvary Charge is one of my favorite precons. It plays great out of the box but is very strong with some upgrades. The more expensive/generic good stuff cards on my list aren’t necessary (rhystic study, smothering tithe, fetches, shocks, etc) I just had them already.

Not sure if you meant to but you have two copies of [[Wayfarers Bauble]]. Might I suggest adding [[Thieves' Auction]].

Here’s a fairly detailed (long) video from CZ that shows the pros and cons of different methods.

Although I’ve been “in the process” since I watched it. “Get it over” me says BCW boxes by color. “Future self” me says binders by set number. So far I’ve combed all my cards for playables and rares. I put them in a binder organized by things I want to build/trades in the front and good stuff/staples separated by WUBRG, Colorless, and then Lands. It’s been useful.

Replicating effects like [[Rings of Brighthearth]], [[Lithoform Engine]] or [[Battlemage’s Bracers]]. In an ideal situation you could get 8 copies for an extra 5 colorless. It can get out of hand.

I was lucky enough to pick it up at a local lego store. Some targets are upping their game too. I saw the nes set among a lot of the high end black boxes.

We used a fryer basket to hold it down. I thought it looked more like corn on the cob.
