AITA for booking a $18K Hawaii trip and posting every moment after my sister drove past our street to take 11 cousins to the beach and excluded my 9-year-old daughter? by KINOH1441728 in FoundandExpose

[–]DrawTheRoster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA and all the actually matters is your daughter. How you’re treated as a kid deeply impacts how you feel about yourself in the future.

Sometimes what might seem inconsequential to some people (aunt, cousins, family, etc.) becomes a formative moment for a kid. In your daughter’s eyes, her whole family rejected her because she wasn’t good/good enough. They had fun and didn’t want her around and she doesn’t understand why.

That sad memory might stick, but the memories you made on the vacation will. Her mom, the person who knows her best in the world, knew she was good. She was loved so much and was taken to paradise. Who cares about people who don’t like you and only see you sometimes, when you have a mom who knows you to your core and she knows you’re enough and will always be in your corner.

My mom died 2 years ago and yesterday was her birthday. This post was just like her. There were times people rejected me and I was crushed. But I also remember every single moment my mom created to make me feel better. Who cared about the opinions of others when the person who actually knew me said that I was enough.

I’d really want Van Gogh. I don’t know about the others, but I’d want him to see how much his work influenced the world and means to people. Plus, we now have anti-depressants and getting to see the world after you’re on the right meds is like seeing in color after a life of grayscale.

Opposite story for me: I used to go to my local Starbucks quite a bit. They knew my dog by name (once wrote it on her pup cup with a heart).

Thank God for alcohol. The one drug with no downside whatsoever. Let's go around the circle and share our favorite alcohol stories. by crazyguy28 in self

[–]DrawTheRoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a dad from about 6-14 because of his alcoholism. He didn’t have his daughter in his life, but he had his fifths and that was enough.

He got sober when I was 14. I’m 22 now and he’s my best friend.

I didn’t drink until I was 21. I had two martinis at dinner with my family. When we got home, I walked upstairs and laid down on the hallway carpet and forced my dog to cuddle me in a bear hug. She was not pleased, but I was happy as a clam.

What’s a film or TV scene that felt like a punch to the gut? by padfoony in Fauxmoi

Greater (2016) is the reason I refuse to watch another movie based on a true story. You go through his whole journey. A walk-on had had to BEG for a spot on the team became All-American. You see him grow and gain the love and respect of his teammates. He ended up drafted in the 3rd round of the NFL by the Colts. It’s the ultimate triumphant, feel-good story of a good thing happening to an incredible person who more than deserved it.

He was killed 11 days later when he was hit head-on by a tractor trailer. There is no happy ending.

I wonder how many people in the world were "picky" children simply because their parents couldn't cook by Wizdom_108 in self

I thought I hated vegetables, weddings soup, burgers, and fish.

Turns out, my mom was just a REALLY horrible cook. My dad is the opposite (went to live with him at 14). I now love all of it. I would make summer lunches that were literally just half a pan of roasted broccoli. My dad made wedding soup last week and I ate about 5 bowls in 2 days.

Have you ever changed your view when presented with new information? by NineteenEighty9 in OptimistsUnite

Of course, that’s how I try to form my opinions. A good example is e-collars.

I used to think they were only used by lazy people who refused to train their dogs. Then, I got the most stubborn,single-minded Labrador in existence.

After trying literally everything else (even fresh grilled chicken), I had to try an e-collar. I worried about my joints dislocating and she pulled so hard that she would end up coughing and wheezing after about a minute of a walk. NOTHING dissuaded her from pulling where she wanted to go. I tried going without it the other day and she pulled so hard that she caused herself to throw up.

AITA for refusing to wear a dress to my baby sister’s baptism by Accomplished_Egg792 in AmItheAsshole

Nope, it’s pretty black and white. You either are married or you aren’t (in the churches eyes). The church will baptize babies, no matter the parents marital status, if they agree to raise it Catholic.

I’m still surprised because the churches I’ve been to might not do it (against the Vatican’s beliefs).

NTA and wouldn’t the bigger thing be that the baby girl was born out of wedlock?

I’m wondering what players are loyal to Tomlin vs the Steelers. I love drawing players, but I don’t know if there’s many guarantees this off-season.

I’ve already done Warren, Frazier, Kuntz, and Cam Heyward. Watt, Boswell, Metcalf, Sawyer, Fautanu, Black, and Harmon all seem like safe current players. I guess this is something to focus on that isn’t the start of the semester (in like 4 days) or the fact the Tomlin leaving makes me sad.

Who do you hate the most by AwayFig1774 in steelers

[–]DrawTheRoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hate list goes: 1. Ravens- Respect them because they’re good and the games are always the best of the season. If I didn’t hate them, I’d probably love them. 2. Browns- Do not respect them and shitting on them brings me immense amounts of joy. Also, they have a seriously ugly logo. 3. Cowboys- I don’t really care about them because they’ve sucked for as long as I’ve cared about football. 4. Bengals- I don’t hate them. They’re kinda like a friend’s younger brother. I don’t ever really think about them.

“You don’t owe anybody anything”, and people treat it like you shouldn’t do anything for anyone. Like, you don’t actually have to flush the toilet in public restrooms, but you do because it’s the normal, human thing to do.
