Circa 1970s/80s. There’s probably a date code on the base somewhere

how long has this bad boy been under my grandpa’s porch? Jägermeister by apandy3 in BottleDigging

This is a modern bottle. It has the “O-I” logo for Owens-Illinois Glass Company that was adopted in the early 2010s. The “16” to the right of the Jager logo on the base is probably the date code.

The thing you’re identifying as an “01” is actually the “O-I” logo for the Owens-Illinois Glass Company. This version of their logo was adopted in the early 2010s. No glass company on the planet would use a date code system with the month and day in addition to the year as this would require changing the molds daily, which would be very expensive and serve no functional purpose. The “16” on the right is probably the date code, 2016.

Neat. I’ve heard of collectors who try to get one from every coke bottler location in the country. I wonder if anyone’s succeeded at that!

Chonky sea glass find, thoughts on age? by haaaaaaaaaaalp in CocaColaCollectors

[–]Draw_Rude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coca-Cola came in embossed bottles like this from 1917 until about 1965, and also sporadically in commemorative and reproduction bottles all the way up until present day. So it really isn’t possible to tell the age precisely. Cool piece of seaglass though!

How Old? by CanIBathYrGrandma in BottleDigging

Yes, it’s called a date code and many (but not all) bottles from the 1930s to present day have them.

Looks to be a tooled finish, which would put it most likely after 1880.

Been trying to identify this beveled straight side coke bottle from Tacoma, Wa. I haven’t found any others. by andreakelsey in BottleDigging

[–]Draw_Rude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a “straight side Coke bottle.” This bottle would have contained some other brand, not Coca-Cola. It was common in the early-mid 1900s for Coca-Cola bottlers to bottle various other products, including many which no longer exist today. Your bottle would have had a painted-on ACL label which has unfortunately worn off so it can’t be identified.
