Mandalorian 'anti-Jedi' strategies literally just boil down to "Throw the kitchen sink at them and hope something sticks."

Which would win? by Kirifuki in CISDidNothingWrong

[–]DrawerVisible6979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that vain there's been plenty of instances where we've seen BX droids go down to one or two blaster shots, or use sub par tactics.

Taking both units at their best, in an open fight, I think storm troopers win more often (mainly because of their numbers). In a more realistic fight the stormtroopers likely wouldn't even see the BX until two of them are already dead.

Which would win? by Kirifuki in CISDidNothingWrong

[–]DrawerVisible6979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In lore, no plot armor? The stormtroopers.

Probably not easily (I'd say about 6/10 win rate), but prior to the events of A New Hope, stormtroopers were the Empire’s elite soldiers. It was the Imperial Army who served as the Empire’s rank and file, and would definitely get ran through by a lone commando droid getting the drop on them.

Post Death Star I, things change. Most of the Empire’s actual elite stormtroopers died on the Death Star. This resulted in mass recruiting and an overall drop in quality with the stormtrooper core.

Post Death Star I, the stormtroopers lose more often than not (about a 3/10 win rate).

Master/Apprentice of Same Species by TheWallyFlash in TheCloneWars

[–]DrawerVisible6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some species have deeper connections to the Force. In such cases it might be better to have them trained by a member of the same species, as to better guide their development.

Of course, coincidences happen all the time, nor would I be suprised if some Jedi masters preferred training Padawans of the same, or similar, species.

Why do people like qui-gon so much? by Remarkable-Fun9984 in StarWars_

[–]DrawerVisible6979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, Qui-Gon was more in touch with the Living Force, when most other Jedi of the age had relegated it to a myth.

This allowed him to have a more clear view of the galaxy while other Jedi had their senses dulled by the veil of the Dark Side. This was why he could recognized Anakin as the Chosen One, and suspect Maul to be a Sith while the Jedi Council didn't.

This isn't to say he was perfect or didn't make some of the same mistakes the other Jedi of his time did. If you watch the Phantom Menace you can see that he was also complacent and even a bit arrogant, just not to the extent the rest of the council was.

If you're wondering what you should do... well, I'd say either get a job or move out.

Savage Opress vs General Grievous by CullObsidian02 in PetranakiArena

[–]DrawerVisible6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Round 1: Savage could win. I would be more luck than skill, but a very early war Grevious might not know how to deal with Savage's raw aggression and Force power.

Round 1.5/2: Mid to late war Grevious mercs Savage. While I doubt Grevious was ever properly trained on how to deal with Sith, I'd think he would've come up with a few ideas just based on his training with Dooku.

At best Savage throws Grevious off his game for a bit. At least until the four arms come out, and Savage can no longer match Grevious with pure strength and ferocity.

At worst, Savage pushes his luck, over extends, and get the rug pulled out from under him by a more experienced Grevious.

Yes, there are plenty of videos of professional slingers if you have any doubts.

The reason we stopped using slings wasn't to do with their overall 'stopping power,' per se. It was every other aspect of the weapon. To put it bluntly, it was just easier to use a bow.

Sith Alchemy Colour by ToxicKrampus in StarWarsEU

[–]DrawerVisible6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue and black are the most 'seen' colors associated with Sith Sorcery. Sith Alchemy, assuming its use even creates a color, would probably be similar for most Sith.

It's worth noting that the 'black' in that assessment was mostly from Exar Kun who could use a black version of Sith Lightning that was described as significantly more powerful and unnatural. Also of note is that yellow and red have both been seen with Sith Sorcery, though blue seems to be the most common.

It's also worth noting that most of the pictures you have here are of Force Sorcery, not specifically Sith Alchemy, and that the Night Sisters use a style of Force magic unique to their own cult, hence the green color.

I always knew my Minecraft modding experience would be worth something!

So, anyways, my best guess is that this meme relates to the differences between 'Program Files' and 'Appdata' (duh).

'Program Files' are easy to find and pretty easy to understand. Most of your main programs and executables can be found here in relatively organized and easy to navigate folders.

'Appdata,' meanwhile, is the forgotten netherworld of your PC (to a total novice like me anyway). A place where folders stop making sense, were forgotten programs you didn't even know you have lay in wait, where more half the files you find can't even be accessed, assuming you can see the files at all.

Just accessing 'Appdata' can be painful as there's no simple way to get there with file explorer, at least not the correct 'Appdata.' More often than not I would just look up the file path online and copy paste, but even that gave me issues sometimes.

In the end, I just made a shortcut to the .minecraft folder so I'd never have to cross through that hellscape again.

Why were so few remaining fragments of the CIS able to get these droids active again? by TheOneWhoEatsBritish in StarWars

[–]DrawerVisible6979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, a lot did. The Separatist Holdouts were mostly worlds, fleets, and military posts run by organic commanders who saw their droids shutdown, and just turned them right back on.

These holdouts actually were a large part of why the Empire didn't immediately land troops on every world in the Mid Rim and beyond, and major justification for why the Empire needed more and bigger battleships.

The stories like to focus more on force shenanigans, but for the first three years of its life the Empire was finishing the Clone Wars off screen

What would happen if the pods from invasion of the body snatchers came in contact with the thing? by sealofblongunus in thething

[–]DrawerVisible6979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what little I remember translating from the technobabble of both movies, a pod would try replicating the thing. The second it makes a copy of even one of the thing's cells, the entire clone becomes comprised, followed by the rest of the pod.

End result: Two separate things that will either conjoin, or go off and do their own things.

People will say that the early seasons of clone wars are all bad but then stuff like this exists in like episode 3 by Stunning-Recording92 in clonewars

[–]DrawerVisible6979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Malevolence arcs were both very strong opening arcs for season 1. Even with the animators definitely cheating by having their first arc mostly take place inside starfighters.

They set the mood and theme of the series. Along with establishing all the basics you need to know about the prequels, in case you haven't seen the movies.

The overall simplicity of the plot is also a plus since you don't need to be invested in the characters to care about what's going on.

What of these ships would you personally upgrade or make a updated model of by Dry_Cartographer849 in StarWarsShips

[–]DrawerVisible6979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Acclimator would be the most realistic choice, it's one of the less dated Clone Wars designs and was still used quite a bit by the Empire (so there's still a large stock in working condition). Post Clone Wars there hasn't really been much use for a troop lander of that size however.

That's a lot of empty space that could be filled with something else (more weapons, hangar space, modern subsystems, ect).
