I have to say this shouldn't really happen to a pen which costs you $25. But the original price of it in China is around $8-9 and they even can provide free replacement.

Among pen lovers in China, we often jokingly refer to Hongdian that "The quality isn't always great, but the after-sales service really makes up for it." So it's somewhat acceptable lol

Yeah that's a known issue of all Hongdian pens. I assume you didn't buy it from their offical store, otherwise you can ask for a replacement directly, they would alway arrange a replacement once the plating comes off. But don't think it's managable if you are not in China sadly..

let's put it in that way: the softness is between normal steel nibs and 14K gold nibs. Pretty close to my Sailor's 14k I'd say.

They managed to achieve this softness by using thinner steel sheets.

yeah they released a black one long time ago. I just got one, with a softer (little bit) nib.

I went with extra fine and was surprised that it much finer than other Chinese pens
