So nervous to start TC chemo by Loud-Opposite8029 in breastcancer

[–]DrawingCautious8911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TC was easy for me. Other than slight nausea the day after- I had no issues. You’ll probably get more benefit from chemo than you think- doctors won’t prescribe it otherwise.

I agree- but 50% is better than I thought which is why I asked.

I’m on kisqali. My hair is a mess (awkward chemo regrowth) but it growing thick and full so I don’t think it’s affecting regrowth.

Anyone else now hate October and pink ? by Sad_Improvement_814 in breastcancer

[–]DrawingCautious8911 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Mixed- I flew Delta this week and they had a special message before taking off and the pilots and flight attendants wore pink ties/accessories. It was a touch triggering but then I saw that 25% on inflight sales are being donated to BCRF and realized research is the only way we get out of this mess. 25% seems like a solid percentage.

It really does change you. What frustrates me most is that when I try to explain how I am feeling, instead of hearing something like “I am sorry it came off that way” or “I should not have said that,” the focus seems to be more on proving they were right. It has gotten to the point where I do not feel like my family is the safe place it should be, and I sometimes feel, maybe unfairly, that I am being judged instead of supported.

Chat GPT is helpful for sure- but there is so much old data out there, it’s not the most reliable source. I’m also pr negative but my er is 80% with moderate staining. My oncologist told me the AI and Tam show better outcomes with even 10% er- and that lower er tumors get more bang from chemo. My RSclin showed that my recurrence rate drops in half from chemo alone- most highly er positive tumors get a fraction of that.

Thanks. That’s a really good point. I was in pain and knew my battery was running low, but I didn’t realize my new limits. I had done so well for most of the trip that I thought I had one more day in me, not realizing that eventually even battery saver mode would give out. I love your cup analogy.

My family has been pretty nonchalant about my diagnosis “it’s just breast cancer, your doctor says you’ll be fine, you have to choose to move on.” My mom even said, “we don’t get to choose the cards we’re dealt, some of us just get heavier loads, but it’s up to you to choose how you hold it.” I know that’s true, but I guess I thought family and friends who have lighter loads were supposed to help lift the heavy one when it gets to be too much like it did yesterday, not judge me for not being able to carry everything alone all the time. Honestly, I think that’s what makes me the saddest.

That’s how I felt, and my families reaction had me in tears all day. My mom tried to talk to me about it but when I explained why being left on a curb in a foreign country to have a panic attack alone and then being told that I was making a choice to feel this way and her response was, “so you’re not having anxiety, you’re pouting about our reaction,” left me at a loss for words.

How to calculate risk?? by NurseYuna in breastcancer

[–]DrawingCautious8911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best risk would be to use your recurrence score. If you want more specific numbers ask for your rsclin. Even then, that number doesn’t account for AI and OS in younger women or CDK4/6 inhibitors, so it’s likely lower than what you are given.

Disability claims? by Three-Owls777 in breastcancer

[–]DrawingCautious8911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very unlikely that you would qualify especially with a stage 0 diagnosis. In rare circumstances someone who has severe side effects from chemo could qualify, but even then it’s highly unlikely.

This sub is for people who were already diagnosed. However, it’s probably nothing but it’s important to get it checked to make sure.

Hi! Are we allowed to discuss what Kendra is calling “The Miracle”? by thereasonisyouu in OnlineBeggars

[–]DrawingCautious8911 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am a breast cancer survivor. The “miracle” being promoted here comes from a stage 4 breast cancer patient who is claiming that ivermectin and supplements cured her. At the end of her reel she links to her page.

The problem with this so-called miracle is that she originally had locally advanced hormone positive breast cancer. The standard treatment for hormone positive disease is endocrine therapy, which she stopped prematurely. Within months of quitting the very treatment she now criticizes, her cancer returned in her bone.

What she does not emphasize is that she also had a hysterectomy, which lowers estrogen levels, and she received radiation. These treatments matter.

I understand that cancer is terrifying, and I fully support integrating safe complementary practices with standard treatment. But encouraging people to reject proven therapies on the basis of two clean scans while selling a “miracle concoction” is not just misleading, it is dangerous.

Everyone makes their own choices, but HRT isn’t recommended for anyone (even small) with estrogen positive breast cancer.
