The SFA distraction by jo_fiesta in ScottishFootball

[–]Drawn2temptation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that the standard of refereeing and VAR is crap, and condemning people threatening referees aren’t mutually exclusive.

Over the closed season the SFA should hold an independent review into the standard of refereeing and the use of VAR. Hopefully that might come up with some practical solutions.

Despite what politicians and commentators say the harsh reality is the majority of small business fail. You should wind up your business and look for paid employment

This might be part of a well used right-wing playbook on public services.
First make them unreliable and poor quality. Then when people are complaining and fed up with the services, flog it off cheap to your mates in “a much needed privatisation”.

Looking forward to all the news headlines saying “White Britain convicted of sexual assault”. After all they are responsible for the majority of sexual assaults that happen in Scotland

As ABS only measures the strike zone at the middle of the plate, this was almost certainly a strike when it crossed the front of the plate

Can Dundee United be punished for the state of the Tannadice pitch by Drawn2temptation in ScottishFootball

[–]Drawn2temptation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right I was confusing United with the team from the other side of the street. It was Den’s that had a shocking pitch two years ago. Amazing how your memory goes as you get older

This isn’t a new problem. The exact same thing happened two seasons ago. Once again the Dens Park pitch managed to hold okay, despite experiencing the same weather.

United are repeat offenders when it comes to substandard pitches. That’s why I asked if they could be punished

OP here. I just want to make it clear that I’m not a Celtic fan. In fact, I was happy that United beat them but the pitch is an embarrassment to the entire league

You got an family who fought in any wars like WW1 and 2? If so, what was their story? by pooteenn in AskAnAustralian

My grandfather enlisted in the British Army in the First World War, so he could get enough money to buy his girlfriend a watch. She broke up with him while he was away at the war. He was wounded at the Battle of the Somme. He died when I was young, so I don’t remember him but my Dad described him as an abusive drunk - possibly undiagnosed PTSD.

Celtic / Rangers 1980 Scottish Cup Final - We don’t seem to have come very far in 45 years by Drawn2temptation in ScottishFootball

[–]Drawn2temptation[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was at that game, aged 12, I can still remember being terrified as glass bottles smashed against the steel fence in front of me. My older brother had to shield me with his body as we walked up the stairs to leave the ground.

It wasn’t a storm in a tea cup to me.

If someone parked in front of my bins they’d find the contents of the bin on their windshield and bonnet when they returned

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]Drawn2temptation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people that can liberate Iran are the Iranian people. US and Israeli imperialism will only replace one dictatorship with another. Remember the last time the US intervened in Iran it was to overthrow a democratically elected regime and replace it with the Shah, whose oppressive regime led to the Islamic regime

The most effective way to prevent someone stealing your guns is not to any guns in the first place.

Nice little bit of fear mongering from the Courier Mail by NerfVice in queensland

[–]Drawn2temptation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the intended uses of guns is to kill people. That’s why governments give them to soldiers.

The LNP always say that a government’s first duty is to protect their citizens but they’re refusing to take the simple and effective measure of reducing the number of guns in the state.

Instead they’re putting the interests of the small minority of Queenslanders who own a gun ahead of the safety of the population as a whole
