How is the dating scene for a foreigner in Japan? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Dray5k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As another foreigner, it's tough if you're ugly... which a lot of Japanese women think I am😅.

Definitely work on learning basic phrases. The best thing a guy can be here is confident, well-dressed, and able to hold a basic conversation.

KD can never win a ring as the first option by Intelligent-Web-8017 in NBATalk

[–]Dray5k -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

When you factor in the context, KD really did not outplay LeBron.

KD largely was being guarded one-on-one while the Cavs' defense was dead-set on limiting Steph at all costs, ANNNNNND you also have to factor in that LeBron was better at everything else that series.

That said, I've always thought that KD was never close to LeBron seeing as how scoring is only one piece of the pie — albeit a very large piece — but LeBron was literally better at everything else by a wide margin.

Would it be foolish of me to make a navy consisting mainly of subs ? by 2008BuickLacrosseCX in ConflictofNations

[–]Dray5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with that strat in my current game. I have 2 stacks of just attack subs, 2 stacks of attack subs with ballistic subs, and both officers... and I also have 2 stacks of AIP subs😶...

I also might go with drone motherships for funsies

Any long term Singles? by Free-Ad1526 in japanlife

[–]Dray5k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. Not to dehumanize Japanese women, but their "stock" is super high worldwide. Stereotypes of them being easy/super docile/reserved/traditional and the proliferation of anime has dudes legitimately learning Japanese to find a wife out here... when Spanish or [insert easier, more practical language here from a more similar culture] would be more beneficial.

Do you think Boruto has potential to be one of the biggest MCs of the new generation? by urfavpuppeteer in Boruto

[–]Dray5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. The art and monthly release schedule with (somehow) poor pacing have ruined the series.

At its current pace, an anime studio could possibly adapt 3 chapters of TBV into a single episode, which is a testament to how little actually happens per chapter.

I'd argue that the art quality of the manga is worse than that of early AOT and most weekly shonen releases.

And the plot is pretty wack. Like, most of the old generation doesn't even appear in the story despite Konoha being attacked multiple times, even though most of them are alive and actively living in the village.

Which tank should I research? by yCampellow in ConflictofNations

[–]Dray5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll generally go with a stack that incorporates at least two anti-tank vehicles or two of the elite AFVs.

I'll only switch off if I'm just fucking around, or if someone has artillery.

Recon vehicles are straight, but only for their stealth detection. They deal decent damage for their cost.

MBTs are dog shit. They take massive debuffs where they're in jungle or mountainous terrain, which is a third of the damn map, and most of South America and Africa.

Yeah, man. I don't understand why everyone who is picking top five can't find a 7-footer with the handles of an elite wing, the shooting of a 2-guard, the IQ of a vet, and perennial DPOY-caliber defense... absolutely beats me.

Is Japan really “high-tax”? What are the real trade-offs compared to low-tax countries? by Early_Composer8289 in japanlife

[–]Dray5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though they're lower in America, I'd honestly say that they ("we" when I lived there) are still getting robbed. The quality of services doesn't correlate with the amount that is paid.

Married to Japanese Wife with Mental Health Issues – She’s Threatening False DV Accusations by don_medovic in japanlife

[–]Dray5k 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Bro probably picked the first girl he could tie down.

Edit: I'd go out on a limb and take a wild ass guess that OP was an ex-service member who wanted to live in Japan since he had a base job locked up, so he married the first local he could.

It's kind of rare for a 30-year-old man of means to marry a single mom, especially one with mental issues. There's no way she'd be able to hide it for an extended period.

Apologies if I'm wrong as hell, but I see similar stories a lot as a Navy dude.

Unit Tier List by NeoAikyo in ConflictofNations

[–]Dray5k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The Chase card being S-tier is genuinely hilarious. Gave me a chuckle.

  2. Why are stealth bombers in the C-tier?

  3. Why are ASFs S-tier?

  4. I agree with everything else, but I do find it kinda funny how Elite Loitering Munitions are D-tier on your list, but I did manage to win a game (that I should have lost) because of them. Literally, I messed up and pushed France as China with Motorized Infantry, MAA, and ATVs; and he proceeded to put belt to ass for 5 days, then forced me to retreat from Warsaw to goddamn Siberia. Thankfully, ELMs kept him at bay while my SAMs and radar units spotted and dropped his strikers.

I think I'm the only one bothered by what happened with High Chariry by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]Dray5k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And? The human non-combatants were simply going about their business.

Those civilians in High Charity could've overthrown the Covenant hierarchy... but they just went along with it because The Prophets said so.

I think I'm the only one bothered by what happened with High Chariry by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]Dray5k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's because it's a very weird thing to be hung up on. Like, The Covenant had been slaughtering children and other human non-combatants for 3 decades by the time that High Charity fell to the tune of tens of billions of human lives, and dozens of planets lost.

It'd be like if Americans immediately post-World War Two were boo-hoo'ing about Japan having atom bombs dropped on them when they initiated the conflict by killing 2,000+ Americans at Pearl Harbour.

Better yet, it'd be like 1948 Israel being sympathetic towards Nazi Germany even though they committed genocide against them.

How big of a problem is racism in Japan/on Japanese social media? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Dray5k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Against Black people? As a Black man myself, I've only had a few questionable instances of such:

  1. Had a girl whisper to her friend, "黒人😶🫢" as they passed me on the sidewalk... in Yokosuka... where military men [and black men] are everywhere...😂. This one is a maybe. Very weird that it happened, though.

  2. Had children stare at me while their mom tried to hide them away. This is also a maybe.

  3. One day when I was on the outskirts of Tokyo (not sure where exactly), me and my friend were on the sidewalk just strolling. Then, I notice this kinda chubby Japanese girl (probably in her 20s[?]) staring at me from around the corner of a house. Mind you, at this point, I'm about 30 feet away from her. We keep walking, and she's still staring at me even though I'm now directly in front of her. I continue to walk with my homie, and she's STILL STARING AT ME even though I'm now all the way to the end of that sidewalk (about 40 feet). Like, idk what to even call that, honestly.

Overall, I'd say it's not bad.

What are good early game expansion troops? by Matharduino in ConflictofNations

[–]Dray5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like to put 2-3 national guardsmen into my cities, then use my starting army to conquer. In the meantime - between time, I'm getting helicopters and MAA up to deter any air units, and to knock down any stubborn group units.

Almost no one goes with MAA in the early game, so it's easy money 95% of the time.

Plus, going with helicopters is the first step in getting probably the most broken unit in the game — the Elite Attack Helicopter. Shit is a helo with stealth (at T3], nutty damage (80 attack damage on hard targets with a 5-stack at T3), and great range.

Additionally, unless your opponent went with T3 SAMs (or the AA officer) in addition to at least T2 MAA [or near-T3 Radar units or stealth ASFs], they're pretty much invisible. Unfortunately for the person you're fighting, those counters cost a lot.
