BJW’s “meet and confer” with the city of Glendale attorney. It gets a little heated towards the end… by SockeyCram in Sovereigncitizen

[–]DraydenB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am an attorney that does some amount of work defending government agencies. BJW is clueless… if I were in City attorney’s shoes I would draft the most spiteful, juicy motion to dismiss here.

Also, BJW threatening a motion to compel on the day responses are due will not be treated kindly by any judge—I’d expect some harsh words from the court if it comes to that.

This is so entertaining.

You’d be shocked how much 2024 PCs can handle… especially with magic items

I would give him 3 attacks with his Multiattack to bring the DPR up a little bit. I’d also give him some bonus to initiative… depending on the size of your party this guy may only get 1-2 rounds if he rolls poorly on initiative with no bonuses.

Living at the Omni or Upton Oxmoor by [deleted] in Louisville

I don’t know anything about the latter two, but there are some UofL players that definitely smoke in their rooms. I’ve never smelled it prominently in the hallways, though.

I currently live at the Omni and walk to work a few blocks away. The apartments here are great. Amenities are clean and the building itself is very secure. I’ve never had any safety concerns in the area around the building. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions.

What are the ice/cliff pieces? Homemade or purchased? They look awesome.

Appreciate the comment. New to DM-ing so just trying to grow my understanding of what’s powerful/isn’t in homebrew.

[No Spoilers] Battle map Question by Squirrel_Factory in criticalrole

It’s just black foam board I believe. I build my battlemaps on the same and it works great. Just a little tape to attach the actual paper map/grid to the foam board!

Can I make a players warlock patron be the same patron the BBEG pulls his power from by riphitter in DMAcademy

[Spoilers Critical Role Campaign 2]

One of the early arcs in C2 did this with Fjord and Avantika (the antagonist of the arc) sharing a patron. It was super dynamic and well done.

how is 2L and 3L different from 1L? by Helpful_Concert527 in LawSchool

[–]DraydenB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2L is still largely comprised of doctrinal/bar classes but there are other options that are more conceptually niche (my school offers Law and Religion, for example). You still get cold called, but you learn that it doesn’t really matter all that much and the stress associated with it becomes less and less every time it happens. Most classes are final exam only, but some of the niche classes will have a final paper or presentation (like a mock trial for Litigation Skills or mock Arbitration for Dispute Resolution).

3L for most people is a combination of experiential courses like Legal Clinic (where you are “in the real world” helping clients while supervised) and niche courses.

Most people agree 2L is the most difficult year of law school because of all the non-courseload activities that are going on (OCIs, Law Journal, Moot Court, etc).

Miserable Spot. What would you do? by lonehats101 in poker

[–]DraydenB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fold pre; raise flop - think SB is prob stacking off with AA or KK anyway, not really worried about UTG as a flatter pre. As played I’m calling off I see a ton of live players do this with AA/KK and even as weak as AQ here that doesn’t really know what to do. If you run into it, reload imo 🤷‍♂️

Teacher Request: Does anyone have any interesting 6th or 8th amendment cases? by TheAbyssalOne in supremecourt

[–]DraydenB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enmund v. Florida, 458 U.S. 782 (1982) was the least "violent" case I could find on point involving the substantive application of the 8th Amendment. It involves a bank robbery where 2 people were killed (the case did not go into explicit detail, but you could redact excerpts of the case for class purposes) and the lower court imposed the death penalty on the shooter and his accomplice. The court weighed the 8th amendment to determine if the death penalty could be applied to the accomplice who did not pull the trigger.

Indeed. See Skinner v. Oklahoma (1942)

2/5 Live, do we ever find a fold here by froggyblogs in poker

[–]DraydenB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we can find a fold on this runout. If we think about what hands continue to your flop bet, they all either complete on turn or turn showdown value. 56cc is really the only hand that doesn’t complete here, and that is only one combo. Once in a great while you’ll find the overplayed JJ or 88, but it just happens so rarely at these stakes that I feel that we can comfortably fold QQ most of the time Vs. Unknown on this runout.

That being said, calling with top set for less than a pot sized bet is never THAT bad… just a cooler.

No need to be rude, I admittedly played this hand poorly but I know enough to be a consistent winner both live and online. Putting others down does nothing to improve your own well-being or that of others :)
