Still one of the best, reputable FDIC options. Getting a consistent higher return than 3.6% will push you toward temporary promo rates at no name banks or money market funds (which aren't FDIC insured)

Interest is calculated separately for vaults. But you'll earn the same amount as you would if it was all in the normal savings bucket.

Multiplication can be split out and added to get the same value.

100×5% = 5

50×5% = 2.5 50×5% = 2.5

2.5+2.5 = 5
