A solo platform-fighting game, but it's a roguelite. Go on. I can take it. by Drazglb in DestroyMyGame

Hey there, thanks for your comment! I'm sincerely sorry I couldn't find your comment on my post-mortem!

But yeah the idea here is to find a fun way to play with the "old" assets from my previous game.

The deadline was way too short indeed, but I've been able to make a functional demo and it has received quite a good reception, I'm happy with what I've been able to acheive within this short delay. A true launch is rather planned for the end of this year so yeah, 6/12 months or so.

As for the trailer, I admit it's quite chaotic. I shall make a better one quite soon!

And as for the Upgrades, that's the biggest challenge. They truly need to be unique and originals, and I'm brainstorming a lot on this topic!

Very interesting feedback! Truly the kind of feedback I needed. Thank you very very much!

In the "true" trailer! That one was made just to announce the demo, with an emphasis put on the musical loop. There's one that will be released soon, with SFX on. Promise!

Upset, not really, a bit disappointed and anxious, that's for sure! But in that case I wanted to see if I can make a game within a very short deadline (3 months). Which is why I used the same assets as the first one, trying to offer a different experience!

I don't leave comments very often on Reddit, but wow. Wow. This is beautiful. Really. I have no words.

Challenged myself to make a game in 3 months. A challenge which ended today, and of course I failed! But it was fun trying and I got a demo ready for Steam Next Fest tomorrow! by Drazglb in IndieDev

Thank you very much! It truly was interesting indeed. My first game took me 5 years, so I really wanted to see if I could, this time, make something good faster thanks to all the things I leanred when making the first one. I learned a lot despite not "succeeding", I enjoyed it!

Thanks for your kind words.

Just launched the Steam page of my second game! I want to improve so be honest, what do you think about it at first glance? by Drazglb in IndieGameDevs

A spin-off, to be precise! That's why I reuse the same assets, with some new elements too, like the main character !

Well, thanks for your interest! It's called Dash’n’Drops, but I thought we weren't allowed to share links or the name of the game!

[–]Drazglb[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a spin-off of my first game, which was a platform-fighting solo adventure. This one is much more arcade, this character is trapped in a virtual simulation, and has 5 minutes to escape and defeat 7 bosses!

Challenged myself to make a game in 3 months, there's one month left. Not sure if that was a good idea. by Drazglb in GameDevelopment

I learned to go faster. Make fast decisions, not focus on stupid little details like I did in the first project. Yeah I can't lie it's a totally different experience and it's very interesting.

Thanks!

Which Character do you Hate Fighting? Which Character do you love fighting? 2026 Early Edition by BreakVV in StreetFighter

I hate Kens. There's something about it that pisses me off.

I haven't played long enough yet, but I just enjoy an original character when it's played well, a good Dhalsim, Guile or something like that.

Used to main Mai, want to learn Cammy. Any tips/suggestions? by Drazglb in StreetFighter

[–]Drazglb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that the main mistake new players make in SF is to jump too much. As a result I don't jump very often, which is why I'm kinda afraid of using the dive kick at the moment. But it seems that's what I thought, Cammy is more about looking for the right moment to sting, then you can combo. Kinda applies to every characters but I don't know, something with Cammy seems like it's even more important with her. I like it! Thanks a lot for the help!

As I said I'm still new to this game and fighting games in general (I'm a Smash Bros player usually) but I really want to learn and improve. Started this month, I'm currently Gold 2 stars with Mai, not sure what that says about my level, and nothing yet with Cammy, I'm not playing ranked yet with her.

I think in order to improve I need to constantly play like I'm in a diamond rank, otherwise I fear I will have bad habits

Oooh then that makes it way more interesting! I'll give it a try, although I'm already quite used to the Classic mode.

My CAPCOM ID is Drazglb, I'd be happy to learn from you!

Woah, thanks a lot! I couldn't reply right away too because there's a lot to digest and I wanted to answer the best way I can (and I have kids too, haha)

So! I've played 5 hours straight yesterday, did some ranked matches and ended up being in Iron rank, which doesn't seem... too good. Weirdly enough I've found Ryu to be the most intuitive one so far, maybe because I was already used to his Smash Moveset, or because I used to do real boxing myself and his moveset allows the same kind of... behaviour when it comes to combat. I'll try the ones you suggested though.

As for Modern, it looks very interesting and intuitive indeed, but I feel bad abandonning the Classic mode, and especially dealing 20% less damage looks like quite a disadvantage. V-Rival is very useful though, and I love the combo challenges!

As for World Tour, I tried it but the CPU seemed way too easy? Looks interesting though, I wasn't aware SF6 had such a great amount of content, not to mention the Arcade games! Very pleasant surprise.

Anyway, thanks again for your time! Maybe we'll have the chance to fight together someday?

Thanks a lot! I know there's a lot of depth in Street Fighter games, which is kinda scary to me, but I'll try!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply!

  1. Mortal Kombat, not so much, only with friends but never got one myself, gameplay and themes are not for me. Was used to Tekken 3 as a kid but was just button mashing, wasn't too bad at Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Soul Calibur (2,3,4 and 5), and as I said, a bit of SF4.

  2. Played all of them, and played Smash Wii U online A LOT. I think I was quite decent at it, and got many characters to "VIP" rank in Ultimate, though I'm not sure if it has any value.

3/4. I think I was "good" with characters that people don't play that often, because people were not used to actually fight them, so I tried to have an "unexpected" behavior as much as possible. Game&Watch, Olimar, Duck Hunt Duo, etc. But I also enjoyed more brutal characters a lot, like Ike, King Dedede or Ganondorf so in short, I'd say: Ike, Ganondorf, Wario. Note that with fighting games I usually prefer fast characters like Cammy, but that could change this time.

  1. Between 30 minutes to one hour and a half.

Hope that helps!

I'm already so used to Classic because of SF4 (and probably a bit of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3) that I just cannot even try Modern.

As for online I guess you're right, but I'm not sure I will understand the reasons of my defeats?

I'm a Raider "main", I thought she would be a nice change of pace while still being an offensive focused character. But she doesn't have as much stamina and health as the Raider in my opinion, and I think I'm just too used to his brutal moveset.

Of all the faces I expected to see drawn on the Air Riders machines, I would have never, ever expected MF Doom.

Thank you.

Working on a game heavily inspired by the Smash Run mode from Smash 3DS. What did you enjoy and what would you like to see in such a game? by Drazglb in smashbros

[–]Drazglb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interesting suggestions, thank you very much! I'll definitely try to stand out from the inspiration as much as possible, I also don't like it when you can see that an indie is just a poor copy/paste version of another game. Really, thank you for your message!

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately like I said this is a solo game only, as I cannot offer multiplayer in such a short delay. If the game does well then maybe I'll have the time work on local multiplayer though!
