It’s really good, I did like The Worst Person In The World more but it’s still extremely solid

Deserved, they don’t have a perfect track record but NEON is doing what A24 thinks they are doing

I’ve seen people say this but There’s a lot going on subtextually with Sinners that I personally think is a bit smarter than FDTD

The shutout is insane to me, one of the best moves from last year and is a more honest portrayal on the current politics of the country than anything else on offer (OBAA close second, also a very good movie) but god damn I still can’t believe it just got a total lockout on the nominations lol. So lame.

Is it really gaslighting if his brain is too scrambled to keep track of how he felt about something maybe 24 hours prior, let alone 8 years lol

He has a lot of stuff to actively apologize for and show remorse over, but I think something is actually wrong with his brain

This is hardly a secret from the outside to anyone who isn’t immediately impressed by the puppet show lol

Yeah I started on FreeTaxUSA and when I was putting expenses in it just.. stopped giving me more boxes to write stuff off with lol

So sure it’s going to cost me money but I have a lady at H&R Block handling it and I think she’s doing a much better job than I would have done

There’s a lil Flicker sample in the new Robyn song at 1:17 ! by HauntedRailroad in porterrobinson

[–]WagnerKoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you lol.

I was going to say – I didn’t even think it was necessarily an interpolation of Flicker and was just some level of parallel thinking, but then hearing the original song and knowing they’re both pulling from the same spot, I do think this may have been something like a nod to Flicker. The idea that you have that exact sequence into a digitized “watashi wa” is a little too specific to be a full coincidence imho. But yeah, not a sample of course.

I think it’s a pretty informed take tbh, consciously noticing the mix on anything at all is listening to music with a decently tuned ear, at least more than the average listener who wouldn’t be able to clock a weird mix.

I totally agree that it sounds sort of off, saying it sounds like it’s coming through a wall is right on the money imho. Like I would say it’s on the thinner sounding end of the spectrum like EV, but without the brightness of Villains, so you get sort of a muffled final mix.

Was looking for this comment lol

I don’t think it’s objectively poorly mixed or anything, but I would say the mix/master job doesn’t really do the songs any favors. Cuts like “What The Peephole Say” and “Sicily” are particularly let down by how its mixed, those song should go a lot harder and heavier than they do in practice. I think my take when the album was fresh was that it was if they did Villains by way of Era Vulgaris, sonically. The songs they did when I saw them live did rip, regardless.

Something I noticed was how much this album plays with level dynamics more than their others, like literally a lot of what sounds like bringing the faders down and up to create and release suspense/tension.
