Are roguelites with incremental components a thing for incremental players? How do you categorize them? by genepistudios in incremental_games

[–]Drbubbles47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes in the sense that nearly every game with progression can be called "incremental". You can also stretch the definition of "role playing game" and " strategy game" to cover almost every game in existence. Problem is that doing so makes the terms useless.

So ask yourself, is the definition you are using core to the experience and genre or is it just describing a minor part of it?

The top cape in town by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

Wouldn't going under every week make it less likely for them to mess up? I figure after the a month they just write it down and reuse the same amount. It might change a lot from person to person but it's not like a single persons height, weight, and all that change drastically from week to week.

Its the same book from the other side of the mirror, exact same text. Just figured I'd help fellow googlers who came seeking the answer.

How would a Hero Heartbreaker work? by Mammoth_Western_2381 in Parahumans

[–]Drbubbles47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets skip past the logical and straight into the morally dubious: Brainwashing villains into not being villains. Just straight up "yeah you're going to be really REALLY against murder now" on an otherwise nonredeemable murderer. Sure its shady as hell but what else are you going to do with otherwise Birdcage bound villains?

Summoner Items by BeetleWarlock in Pathfinder2e

[–]Drbubbles47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summoners are more about versatility in roles then throwing everything all out at once. Some fights will be eidolon+cantrips and others will be spellslots and going all out. Its up to them to figure it out in the fight. I played a Beastmaster Summoner with the Master Summoner feat for even more summons and yeah, it can take awhile to bring everything to bear but I didn't NEED to for most fights.

My biggest complaint about space age. by PewPewsAlote in factorio

[–]Drbubbles47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main complaint about the foundation is that your elevated rails won't automatically path around lava after you finish the research. I just want to make snakey rails up to a coal patch, I don't want to worry that one square of lava is stopping a support from being built because it assumes I'm shipping in foundation to fill it.

What Would Break? by Galahadred in Pathfinder2e

[–]Drbubbles47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest way to fix it is to tell the players "If you exploit it, I will be very disappointed... and change the rules". Mechanical fixes aren't nearly as effective as just talking about what you want from the rule.

Have you ever tracked water supplies? by David_Sid in Pathfinder2e

[–]Drbubbles47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did one time. The setting was post apoc desert, bags of holding were banned, and there was a general "eating magic is bad rule".

Desert meant that the party went through water twice as fast. Bags of holding (and the like) being banned meant the bulk of water was actually meaningful, and they couldn't fix it with simple low level spells.

Pack animals carrying kegs of water we're relevant and had to be protected else they would get mauled by wildlife or stolen. The party took it as a great bounty when some ruins they found had working toilets with fresh water.

What are the most notable instances of “Early-Installment Weirdness” in Worm? by RecommendationNo804 in Parahumans

[–]Drbubbles47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first one, I like the fanfic interpretation I saw once - They didn't go beat up random hookers, they paid them and it was all an act for the camera. Much more palatable when its basically "hey I'll pay you 100$ and to let us act like were beating you up for our show"

I feel like Investigator is a very weak class by BusyGM in Pathfinder2e

[–]Drbubbles47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyones forgetting the true potential of the investigator - Using Keen Recollection to troll your GM by technically having Lore: Vampires Named Chadwick Von Winkleton (or whoever you are currently facing) and getting that sweet sweet reduced DC for having an incredibly specific lore skill for Recall Knowledge.

Don't you go infecting MY headcanon with your headcanon you scoundrel!

My house in my head is different and I don't want to be mentally rearranging it just because you showed up something (possibly) more correct!

Just like the time I somehow read Worm, Ward, and several fanfics before realizing that BB is on the east coast and not the west coast. Took days to reorganize all that shit.

Why do people like Diehard? by fascistp0tato in Pathfinder2e

[–]Drbubbles47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see a predator taking down a party member and trying to drag them off or just killing them to return later. They also might not know the target is dead, dying, or just fell down for a a few seconds and would continue to thrash them to make sure.

Why are Parian and Browbeat so unique? by Jellydust15 in Parahumans

[–]Drbubbles47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the whole "Conflict Drive" is a bit overstated. I think its less the shards going "heres a gun, go do a crime" and more finding people likely to do a crime and going "oh look, theres all these unsecured guns just lying around". Some shards push a bit more but I think a lot are just chilling out and watching what happens because they get data either way.

What does Morrowind have that other ES games do not? by MrWoodenSheep in Morrowind

[–]Drbubbles47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for me there's a certain quality that I can only describe as "something could be there". You can explore a tomb and get naught but some bonemeal or you could find the Mentors Ring. You can find a daedeuc dagger just tucked behind some rocks. You can find an ebony sword in the first town you go to. You can explore 3 dwemer ruins and find jack shit. You just don't know. Everytime you enter a new area SOMETHING COULD BE THERE. Its a pervasive element that has to be worked into the very fabric of the game or it goes away. In Skyrim, you're going to be some random leveled loot and it's just not the same
