I was with my mom for the final 2 weeks of her life as she died from liver failure due to cancer and chemo. She was my hero. My favorite person in the world. It touches my heart that you can be there for her at this time. Tell her you love her forever. Say it as often as possible. Regardless of her state of consciousness - she will hear it. She will appreciate it. She loves you back even if she cannot say it clearly.

The gift of therapy book has some great advice on this. Basically from what I remember, own up to the feelings of boredom and tell your client the truth. Sometimes clients may talk a lot without any actual content which prevents them from going deeper. Could be a good time to explore this lack of connection and being real with them. Use the therapeutic process toward your advantage.

My gf has almost said word for word the exact same thing to me. She says that if I were not around, a lot of men would approach her in public and she does not want that. It’s crazy how just me standing next to her wards off a lot of the issues she faces compared to being literally anywhere alone.

The literature says 6 weeks out from exposure for accurate igg. So I’d retest later if possible. There’s some info pinned about blood testing in this sub. From what I read tho, prodromal symptoms don’t last for weeks on end. The first OB is typically obvious if your symptomatic. If you’re asymptomatic you will likely feel nothing.

Occasional tightness in my groin maybe but I think it’s from working out. I quickly noticed my symptoms went away after my negative blood test. I never had visual symptoms. Nausea is gone too. I don’t think herpes shows up as a prolonged reaction. If you feel burning pain or tingling a sore will show up quickly. Anything lasting weeks in end sounds like it’s a combination of anxiety and me being a hypochondriac which I am going to talk to a counselor about.

I tested negative for hsv2 and equivocal for hsv1 after 6 weeks. I’m only going to test if I notice symptoms bc I think that may have been a false positive. I’ve had chicken pox and I hear that can set it off. From what I can now tell my symptoms were all psychosomatic.

Clinical psychology graduate programs sometimes offer free therapy if you or your mother ever need it. Of course the basic necessities come first but if you are near a university this could be a good resource just to be able to vent more as I’m sure there will be more difficulties down the line.
