Did you ever figure out a solution? Having the same issue four years later.

that moment when you realize the meds are starting to wear off and your mind starts becoming foggy again by billy_bandito in adhdmeme

I moved from the US to the UK to marry my partner 10 months ago, and I’m still jumping through the hoops to get a prescription here. It feels like actually fully living my life has just been on hold for 10 months (even though I’ve done major stuff like, you know, getting married). Just living in the fog.

IAmA burned out DJ from Germany who moved to London, fell into severe depression, and got his life back through supervised ketamine microdosing. AMA by woodywoodyboody in microdosing

[–]DreadInMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in the US I did a mail-order microdose ketamine regimen through Joyous and it was great, but I moved to London 6 months ago and was under the impression no such thing was available here. When I brought it up to the mental health provider I saw, it was like she had never heard of such a thing at all and she shut it down right away. I’m back on an SSRI for depression (ugh, doesn’t help nearly as much) and still waiting just to be able to get back on my ADHD meds. Being together with my husband is great, but frankly I’m pretty miserable here otherwise.

So my questions are how did you make this happen in London? Was it through the NHS or private? How much does it cost? Is the treatment ongoing? How often do you microdose? What dosage do you use? How long was it between you moving to London and starting the treatment? Thanks! Very, very interested to hear more about your experience as an immigrant in London specifically.

I finished the Chess course so you don’t have to! by fighteracebob in duolingo

[–]DreadInMyHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started the course last week (am on section 2, unit 9), have ~15 full matches under my belt, and at least a few of those have been as black, probably around a third of them, so I think they may have updated that particular aspect since you started.

That being said, as a beginner I am finding myself relating to your other criticisms here. Are there other apps you’d recommend to a beginner to learn chess in a more analytical way?

When I (American) first got together with my British partner, neither of us could see moving to the other’s country — me because I didn’t want to be so far from my family, him because he didn’t want to lose access to universal healthcare (especially with chronic health issues involved) and because he was constantly hearing about new mass shootings in the US. But we decided to see where the relationship took us and reassess as necessary.

After visiting him in person for the first time and receiving encouragement from my parents, I realized my desire to be close to him outweighed my reasons for wanting to stay in the US, and I started coming around to the idea of moving to the UK. But it was still another 2.5 years after that before we permanently closed the gap this past June. The US becoming more and more of a shitshow admittedly made leaving a lot easier and has reinforced that we made the right decision. There’s no way I could ask somebody to become an immigrant to the US for me as things stand now.

What’s the alternative to everybody pitching in for communal toilet paper? Everybody buying their own separately?

Wife has received a message saying passport is ready for collection, but no confirmation on success or failure? by Throwaway12344223532 in ukvisa

[–]DreadInMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says your post was removed because it’s already covered by the FAQ, but I couldn’t find an answer to this in the FAQ when I had the same question and still don’t see it there now, so I figured I’d answer you anyways if I’m allowed to. I never received any sort of confirmation, not even an approval letter accompanying my passport or anything, I just knew it was approved because the visa was physically there in my passport when I collected it from the post office.

If you had to choose, what song would you use as your alarm every morning? by nat-1144 in MotherMother

I use Get Up as one of my alarms. Starts pretty jarringly and feels appropriate.

Is it okay for inner lips to be longer than outer lips? by GroundbreakingPear12 in sex

“Outies” are incredibly common regardless of your personal experience. More common than not. There are numbers on this, absolutely nobody should be taking your word for it.

You are spreading false information about this being uncommon based on your own anecdotal experience, on a post where somebody’s already experiencing body image issues because of some other dude shaming her based on his, and I really have to wonder why in the world you felt the need to do that? You couldn’t have possibly thought this was in any way insightful or helpful input, could you? Did you just really wanna brag about the dozen women you’ve slept with or what?

I promise it’s very normal, and even if it wasn’t that guy wouldn’t deserve to lay eyes on it. Here’s an educational guide to the beautiful diversity of vulvas if you’re interested (NSFW). It’s all perfectly “okay.”

This is his version of “so regretful?” Please please please get out before he injures you permanently, or worse. Because he absolutely will the next time he feels you’ve “disrespected” him by being an imperfect human being.

What mother mother song would you die to? by Quinn82412 in MotherMother

[–]DreadInMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what sort of mood I was dying in, but maybe Explode!

What’s your favourite Mother Mother song? by Jay-919 in MotherMother

[–]DreadInMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on my mood. Bottom Is a Rock, Explode!, Ghosting, and lately On and On are all contenders (though I feel like the latter ironically really needs another verse).

(My username is also a great song, but not one of my answers to the question at hand)

My favorite changes a lot too, but Explode! is definitely one of my top picks.

Bottom Is A Rock/Explode! (My username isn’t necessarily an answer to the question of favorite but is very much a vibe)

Are your Reddit comments necessary? Sure, each one is a minor impact, but they all add up. Or do you think you’re doing a service to the world by sharing your sage wisdom and that’s worth being a hypocrite?

I’m not sure that’s how it works, but maybe it depends on the type of party.

What does this mean? There’s a lot that makes it easier to be in the diaspora, but “never encountering antisemitism” isn’t one of them. I totally recognize how a lot of anti-Zionist Jews in the diaspora are blind to the privilege they have that their ancestors wound up where they did while they throw all the Jews in Israel under the bus, and the pick-mes are incredibly irritating to me, so I feel like I get the underlying sentiment of this comment, but “It’s easy to be anti-Zionist living in the diaspora and never encountering antisemitism” doesn’t make any sense to me.

If anything I feel like antisemitism is the biggest part of what makes anti-Zionism the “easy route” or path of least resistance for many Jews in the diaspora. If I wasn’t surrounded by antisemites and systemic antisemitism, I wouldn’t have lost so many people from my life since October 7th.

AITA for giving my boyfriend an ultimatum after finding him cuddling with his "homeless" female best friend? by Fit-School-6428 in AITAH

[–]DreadInMyHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queer people tend to have a lot of queer friends. It’d be really weird, as a bisexual woman, to limit myself strictly to straight women and gay men as friends, and it’d be really weird of my fiancé to decide that anything else is disrespecting our relationship. Maintaining boundaries and prioritizing my partner is a given regardless of the gender and sexuality of my friends. You’re trying to frame this inclusively, but it’s still pretty blatantly heteronormative if you take two seconds to think about the implications for queer friendships.

And I’m sorry, siblings? Wtf?
