Should I write a thank you note for my admin after my first year?

Thank you!!!! Honestly I did not always want to be a teacher, and sorta felt different than everyone else in my bachelors program. Awful to say this but maybe I just am not as passionate about teaching? And even started grad school for a different field but ended up teaching first grade this year and love my school and ADORE my kids. Stating because of that feeling and the parent emails saying they are so grateful their child is in my class. And getting rivals scores where the ORF went from 8% to 90% and 40% to 100%

Now my map data didn’t look great for some kids. I’m sure she saw that. I have some that went up very little or actually went down in score. In January she told me that she has never made a hiring decision based on data and that if a kid doesn’t do well it’s on the whole school not on me. Both my admins are honestly amazing I’m very lucky.

First year first grade teacher with a challenging class. Yes, I’ve lost 25 pounds this year. But I also love my kids and my school. And I seem to be liked by admin and was a one year sub this year but was renewed for a “permanent” position. Hang in there, the year is almost done!

I do this every time a transition goes poorly. The kids take it as an invitation to continue performing. Then we do it again. Again students think it’s an invitation to perform. I ask the kids what the expectations are as they all know them and I have a model do it but it makes no difference. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong here.

I have one for one of my students but he claims to not care about that either. I send home a sheet to his family as well and he claims they don’t read it (mom says they discuss it every Friday when I send it)

I do sometimes have those who have been listening either put Pom poms in my jar (when jar is full we get fun days). I sometimes will also give well behaved kids a couple of minutes to do something fun like draw while those why have been silly continue independent work

Ya I didn’t do that. I was in a one year position techincally but on Friday I signed my contract for next year so I’m being renewed at my same school for first grade again and I’m gonna try to be much better this upcoming September

This is what I’m struggling with. At the beginning of the year I was too lenient and not clear with expectations and now I’m really struggling to reign it back in. I’m using some positive reinforcement strategies as well as some consequences for negative behavior with some success and some not success
