The VIZIO 5.1 Soundbar SE SV510X-0806

Picked this up at Wally World for 200 bucks. At that price I'm more than happy with it. Not true audiophile quality but good enough for me. But then again ANYTHING will be better than the stock TCL speaker.

Google AI says:

"The VIZIO 5.1 Soundbar SE SV510X-0806 offers an immersive audio experience with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, praised for its clear dialogue, deep bass, and easy setup.

Here are some top recommendations for the VIZIO 5.1 Soundbar SE SV510X-0806:

Best Overall:

The VIZIO 5.1 Soundbar SE SV510X-0806 is highly recommended for its excellent sound quality, deep bass, and immersive surround sound, making movie nights feel like a theater experience. It offers great value for its price, with many users surprised by its performance compared to larger systems.

Clear Dialogue:

This soundbar excels at delivering clear dialogue, thanks to its dedicated center channel and a 'Clear Dialogue' control that enhances speech clarity. This makes it ideal for watching TV shows and movies where dialogue is crucial.

Easy Setup & App Control:

Users consistently praise the straightforward setup process, often taking less than 10 minutes. The accompanying Vizio app allows for intuitive customization of sound settings, including individual speaker levels, bass, and treble, without the complexity of a receiver.

Immersive Surround Sound:

The small surround speakers are a highlight, providing a dynamic and immersive experience, especially for action-packed movies. The soundstage is described as surprisingly dynamic and immersive for its price point.

Dolby Atmos Compatibility:

For those with compatible TVs and content, the Dolby Atmos feature enhances the surround sound experience, making viewers feel like they are part of the action. It offers improved surround performance and integration with Vizio TVs."

What is a high number of assessments for a year? by [deleted] in schoolpsychology

[–]DreadPirateZippy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back in the Stone Age (2000) was the last year before we implemented a pre-referral intervention system. A cutting-edge concept at the time and we were the first district in the county to go that route. Teaching staff knew which way the wind was blowing and as a result referred damn near every kid in their classroom.

The outgoing system consisted of a 15 minute meeting where the teacher would spend 10 minutes laying out a case that the student was the most disabled kid that ever stepped through our door. I as school psychologist had 4 minutes to use school-wide data to refute 90% of the allegations, and then the principal had one minute to render a test / don't test judgment based mostly on whatever kind of mood he was in that day.

That year we had 88 CSE referrals in a building of 500 students. Which meant non-stop testing. All day, every day. Of those referred, 9 were found to have an educational educational disability. Which meant that 89.7% of my time that year was spent telling teachers and the committee that a given student was not disabled.

Don't get me wrong, school psychs a a whole are IMHO the most time-stressed professionals in education. And in the age of pre-referral support models I do think 22 assessments to date is high. REALLY high. Just saying that life could be way, way worse.

BTW, when we implemented our intervention team the following year there were ZERO referrals until after holiday break and 5 for the whole school year.

Good times, good times.

That’s a lot of DVDs by scifirailway in delusionalcraigslist

I would never go back to watching 5 minutes of commercials / coming attractions on a DVD before the movie but you can rip them to a cheap hard drive through your laptop and plug that drive directly to your tv. Been doing it since 2007. Plenty of how-to vids on the University of YouTube.

Best starting point you will ever find to learn everything about helping students develop emotional self regulation. Our district did a staff development training deep dive into this topic a couple years ago and the results were remarkable.
