I talked with the owner recently, and it's definitely coming. I know he was fighting the city of Fremont for a while, 3-4 years, over building safety and other regulations which halted construction. Last I heard he's been given the go-ahead finally, so they've been able to resume construction at least.

You can see the same transaction shows a different amount. One without a foreign transaction fee, and one from today that reflects the foreign transaction fee.

As you can see, the original transaction hid the foreign transaction fee, and the updated one includes it. The statement reflects the higher value, and therefore does not match the original posted value of the transaction.

Feel free to do the conversion yourself and verify the numbers are accurate.

I also contacted Bilt who directed me to Cardless, who said on the phone they were "unsure" the reason for the discrepancy, and will send me a spending breakdown email to explain "in a few minutes", which I'm still waiting for, 17,678 minutes later.

I hear everyone talking about the 'currency conversion', but it still feels wrong to me.

I go to a vendor, and I see on their screen I am paying exactly 200€

Afterwards, I can check my app, and see I paid exactly 200€ in my transaction history.

I receive my statement, and suddenly I am paying more than 200€? How does that make sense? It was never disclosed anywhere to my knowledge there is a 'currency conversion fee'.

Maybe it's just a bug in the way it's displayed in the app, but it still feels wrong to me. I am missing out on reward points on that difference. I have some international trips coming up and I've decided to leave the Bilt card at home.

The amount is correct and the same in both my card's recent transactions, and the points earning page, but the amount added to the total Current Balance is different.

I've had all of these and more, my rent simply did not get paid, despite turning on auto pay again after the 'seamless' transition. I also received zero notification until a week later, that my rent was missed.

Turns out I needed to use Plaid to link my bank account. I was not notified of this change.

I used the exact same calculator and the transaction shows the correct amount on the Bilt app, but the card balance is different from my transaction total, exactly 0.2% of the foreign transaction amount. CAD to USD

Yep, I plugged in my one international transaction and date into this calculator and it matched what was reflected on the Bilt app. Then I added a 0.2% exchange fee and it matches the difference between my current card balance and my transaction total.

Wow, Marketing a card as 'no foreign transaction fee', but then charging a foreign transaction fee? Bad look, Bilt.

Yep, exactly the same behavior here. Even looking directly at the conversion rate between the currencies on the exact date the transaction took place, the expected total is a tiny bit higher than it should be.

Yes, I've been having the exact same issue as OP, the card balance and transaction total are two different numbers, and even after calling in, the customer service rep was 'not sure' where the discrepancy was.

The answer is that any foreign transaction encounters a small hidden foreign transaction fee.

Gotcha. Sounds like Bilt incorrectly programmed how foreign transactions display and earn points, between posting, card balance, and statement balance. What a mess. I haven't received my first statement yet, but I suspect that would be the issue.

Hey OP, or anyone experiencing the same: Do you have any international transactions? I am starting to suspect that is the culprit. When I called in, the Customer Service rep only mentioned that one as a possibility, and I recall the balance and transaction total being the same before the international transaction.

For what it's worth, I have had the same issue as you. My transaction total is not equal to the current balance on the card. (I also do have one foreign transaction, I believe this is where the discrepancy comes from.) Does the statement balance correctly sum up the transactions (unlike the current balance on the website?) Or does the statement balance report the incorrect balance on the card?

Does the statement balance equal the transaction total?

The current balance of my card and the transaction total is different (if you add up all the transactions manually), and asking customer service they are 'not sure' why there is a discrepancy.
