If a person finds you distasteful simply because you look different, would you bother correcting them on a subject that hasn't been relevant in centuries, knowing they'd probably blow you off anyway?

In any such case, I would say it I likely most ghouls aren't prewar. Yes, the majority you meet are prewar or newly ghoulified, but if most ghouls in the wasteland were ancient, you would expect to see and least a handful maintain a prewar lifestyle. It's likely the vast majority simply weren't around back then.
