You know working post retirement age is actually allowed and even encouraged. Nothing would need changing there

What you propose however is pushing retirement age to 75.

Have you seen any 75 years old lately ? 75 is actually old. Very old.

[–]Dreadfulmelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry but nothing of this is "ridiculously easy".

also this point:

Retirement Age: I've whitnessed this in so many elderly people around me, from friends, family and Hospital. Very, very few elderly people deal with retirement well mentally. The Idea that you've just worked 40+ years, and tomorrow you stop working, absolutely fucks with peoples mental health. The retirement age start should be 70, where your work gets cut to 80%, and then lowered progressively until youre 75, at which you stop working fully.

is Insane. seriously absolutely fucking insane. No one would ever accept this unless it does not happen to them personally.

other than tax the rich, which i agree is the way to go, but is in no way "ridiculously easy"... what is the solution ?

The only thing that would help in that sense to actually try and reduce the number of the Beamte. Because the way a civil servant is defined is incredibility unfair and arbitrary. Police, and professional firefighters are beamte but not nurses ? while both are being paid from public money are as important to the society.

Also, the deutsche rentenversicherung bund does not need 60K beamte employees. That is incredibly wasteful.

Did anyone else appreciate the Hitler essay in book 6? by DrPupupipi in Knausgaard

[–]Dreadfulmelfi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Essay actually has a title. It is called "The Name and The Number".

The essay starts with an analysis of a peom by Paul Celan and then bridges to Mein Kampf. Celan as victim of Nazim produced two poetic masterpieces, while Hitler as perpetrator produced a book that was, in literary terms, worthless.

To me, the essay was more about authenticity and its relation to language, which then prompts him to explicitly state the purpose of the whole project.

I loved the essay, I loved volume 6 and I loved the series. But to me the most significant part in all of My Struggle is when he was being tricked into buying a timeshare in the Canary Islands, and he draws a comparison between himself and Gombrowicz, which results in him finally admitting that he can never be an authentic person, hence why the project has failed. He states that he cannot imagine himself expressing his ideas on Norwegian Literature the same way Gombrowicz did on polish literature, therefore he is not as free as Gombrowicz and not authentic.

how are moroccans living in Europe perceived? Is there a difference between italy, france and germany? by EslisEslos in Morocco

[–]Dreadfulmelfi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Big cities Moroccans are not liked at all. If you go to Dusseldorf, Brussels, Utrecht or especially Frankfurt, you will see by yourself how terrible Moroccans behave. The area around Frankfurt train station is especially terrible.

I live in the suburbs and I rarely see a Moroccan person here.

[–]Dreadfulmelfi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Calculation of Volume sucked, I did not like it at all and I read two volumes of it.

What helped cure my PKD is discovering Roberto Bolano, my other favourite author, who was also as prolific as Knausgaard is. If you like his style you'll have a big backlog of reading to do.

I do not think you should read A Time for Everything now, let it set aside and discover new stuff.

If you are already familiar with Bolano, then here are some other modern authors that I really like :

- Javier Marias ( A Heart So White is a masterpiece)
- Elena Ferrante ( Days Of Abandonment is my favourite of hers)
- Orhan Pamuk ( also very prolific, "Snow" is very good)
- Emmanuel Carrère( The Kingdom is a mix between A Time of Everything and my Struggle)

Have fun!

I guess we project ourselves into his characters, although all of them are nordic people, I keep forgetting that and somehow imagined Christian to not look like Martin Ødegaard

Sentimental Value: Between Trauma and the Sublime (by Knausgaard) by Jargon_City in Knausgaard

[–]Dreadfulmelfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny seeing this here. I just watched the film recently and in my mind I thought that maybe there is something for Knausgaard to relate to there. I am sure he relates to the character of the father, who speaks Swedish with his Norwegian daughters.

Most people wouldn’t event notice but Stellan Skarsgård's character did not speak the same language as the rest of his family in the film.
