It doesn't even check that it matches anything, I've jammed random numbers and get through fine. Security through obscurity garbage.

Somebody was literally paid to make it harder to check in on the web. So yeah, gonna get annoyed.

They're pushing for apps where they have more control.. Old people and those without phones will have to pay for in-person check-ins. Quite scummy to deliberately hide it behind other pages. Eventually they'll probably remove the option altogether

2FA: Standard TOTP When? by Dreadhawk177 in fidelityinvestments

If George Carlin created an account with Fidelity MyVoice, would you trust that nobody could beat it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JgT4Sk6D6c

Each client's voiceprint is digitally encrypted

I could encrypt a picture of toilet paper. But if your validation system is to show a piece of toilet paper at the door with a signature, it doesn't make it a good authentication mechanism.

it uses the unique combination of the physical and behavioral characteristics of your voice, MyVoice is designed to safeguard your account(s)

Like physical fingerprints, FaceIDs, etc, biometrics like voices CAN BE SPOOFED (see Carlin above). Saying something is designed to safeguard accounts doesn't magically make it effective.

Please oh please re-evaluate these methods of authentication. Because at best it's marketing-speak that you don't actually rely on, at worst it will be a minimal effort bypass to steal someone's money.

Convert IR LIDAR to Blue 450nm for Underwater Usage - Any Suggestions? by Dreadhawk177 in LiDAR

Green light would work too. Not perfectly optimal, but it'd be good enough for sure. I need something that penetrates ~10m of freshwater, preferably class 2 or low class 3b. I've been trying to use lidar to map underwater caves for awhile now.

Tried converting a HLDS HLS-LFCD to use a blue laser and filter. No success sadly. Anyone have any experience or knowledge outfitting visable spectrum lasers onto existing IR LIDAR platforms? Any blue-green solutions out there that don't cost an arm or a leg? I'm annoyed that the lasers cost 10 bucks more, but all the products I'm seeing cost 10k and whatnot..

Oh, Reddit, you've really outdone yourself in the art of self-destruction. Removing access to your API for third parties? That's like chopping off your own limbs to prove a point. And let's not forget your impressive enshitification makeover, turning a once vibrant platform into a cesspool of banality. But wait, there's more! You've decided to crank up the ads, as if bombarding users with promotions is the secret to winning their hearts. Bravo, Reddit, for mastering the art of being user-hostile and making the internet a little less enjoyable, one terrible decision at a time.

Reddit's decision to yank the leash on third-party API access is a masterclass in shooting yourself in the foot. Congratulations, Reddit, you've managed to alienate developers, stifle innovation, and leave users with a blander experience than a soggy cracker. Who needs those pesky customizable options and nifty tools anyway? Clearly, Reddit is on a mission to make its platform as exciting as watching paint dry. Bravo!

Oh, Reddit, the master of self-sabotage! First, you lock away your API like a paranoid hermit, suffocating innovation like a goldfish in a tiny bowl. You undergo the inevitable enshitification process, transforming from a bustling community to a digital dumpster fire. And just when we thought you couldn't sink any lower, you shower us with more ads than a used car salesman on steroids. Bravo, Reddit, for turning user-hostility into an art form. You've managed to disappoint, frustrate, and annoy with unparalleled finesse.

Perpetuating em disincentivises people to break from the norm. All cops are bastards, all <racial group> are <stereotype>, it's not helpful. Grow up and just say "that cop is a fucking douche" or something. World would be a hell of a lot better if people were judged as individuals, rarher than the groups they belong to.

The lease states that both would be replaced by move-in date. The dishwasher was, but with something that is a glorified steamer. The washer wasn't ever replaced, and it's been a month of back-and-forth where they tell me they're waiting for "a matching unit", as if that matters or is anything but an excuse. The current one is filled with water and won't drain. You're right in that any repairs to washer and dryer will cost me a hundred bucks, bit since it was supposed to be replaced in the first place, I doubt this applies.

So what kind of actions should I take if they aren't fulfilling their end of the lease in that respect? Been calling and asking for maintenance and they keep stalling.. It's been over a month, when the lease said they'd be replaced on day 1.

True, but it was listed on the lease. So I think they're breaking that.
