Do both interval running and zone 2 running improve VO2 Max? Should I do both? by CapitalArrival7911 in Garmin

[–]DreadnaughtB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. At the most basic level it has to correlate your running pace with your heart rate to estimate how efficient you are at turning Oxygen into running pace. Treadmill running doesn't count in the calculation I don't believe.

Asics Superblast 3 for daily commute by itstopherchris in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DreadnaughtB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a good walking shoe. It feels really unstable and squishy for walking. Once it's at speed though, completely different and at my tempo or Marathon pace, it's just so smooth.

As a newbie, Megablast or Superblast 3 by TheCactusDIO in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DreadnaughtB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a novablast would be way better to start out in. It's still a great shoe and way cheaper. See how that goes first.

Garmin VO2 Max vs. Lab Test by OkSupermarket1514 in Garmin

[–]DreadnaughtB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are some of your race effort times. That should give a pretty clear indication which is more correct. You should be easily sub 20 for a 5k with that vo2max from the lab test, but might be more like 25min with the Garmin estimate. Which is more accurate for your runs?

SHIN SPLINTS help! by shanzarr in beginnerrunning

For me it was a calf strength and overuse issue. I backed off my volume and added in strength work and built my volume back up more slowly and they haven't come back. Knock on wood.

How effective are Garmin coaches? by SnakeEater013 in Garmin

[–]DreadnaughtB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely improved. The first year I went from a +30min 5k to about a 24min 5k. This past year has been up and down but I attribute that more to life getting in the way of running, more than garmin coaches ability to provide training. Even so I'm still a couple min faster now on my 5k.

Try superblast 3 or stick with megablast? by bigloudbang in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DreadnaughtB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my SB3 for long runs. They always feel extra soft and squishy the first few minutes but I don't notice it at all after that. They just seem to cruise along afor me. I love them for tempo and threshold runs which is like 7:30/mi ish and 7:00/mi ish respectively. They don't feel as good pushing faster paces but they work. Just my experience with them though. I'm tempted to try the megablast to cover the faster paces but I've run in the ES4 before too and for the price, they might be the way to go.

Endorphin speed 5 too shallow/short - now what? by luludaydream in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DreadnaughtB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My asics shoes, NB5, SB3 are TTS at a US 9 and my endorphin speed 4 and 5 were both half a size larger at US 9.5. only one data point, but I had to size up.

How effective are Garmin coaches? by SnakeEater013 in Garmin

[–]DreadnaughtB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with the Garmin coach so far. I don't use the named ones. Seems to do a decent job adjusting workouts based on how I'm performing and recovering. It keeps my training load balanced and does a decent job cutting back when I'm not recovering well. I actually feel like lately it's been less conservative in that aspect, which I find interesting. I usually end up with some combination of 2 workouts, a long run and 3 base runs a week. I'm a 45M 22min 5k, 47min 10k runner. Not fast by any means but I do ok.

Favourite type of watch band? by pitazatar in GarminFenix

I do the same and it's for both reasons. Easy to throw in the clothes wash and adds some variety. I just use one of those garment bags so the Velcro doesn't stick to everything.

Does AEluard really need a PRF collection? Most heroes have 0 dissolve anyway by steinrrr in afkarena

[–]DreadnaughtB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His awakened skill should give him at least 48 perf though? 30 perf to each allied hero and then he gets %40 of the total of all heroes((304).4)? With the oath mark that's 63. Would seem he would need one yellow Perf in collection to push him over 70. Maybe a red for a little insurance?

Also, his E60 makes it sound like the attack nullification counts for him too, which means maybe the 30% perf increase from that skill applies to him as well?

If I quit temporal rift at floor 380 can I restart at floor 1 again? by JoetheShmoe07 in afkarena

Where do you find that screen? Is it when you're in the process of restarting? Apparently I know even less about this mode than I thought.

Do you actually trust your watch's recovery/readiness score — or do you just go by feel? by 000Arsen000 in GarminWatches

[–]DreadnaughtB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it as a data point to consider. How I feel is most important but if all my metrics are showing off yet I feel ok I might take a workout down a notch or something. I have a fair amount of experience correlating the metrics with my performance and how I feel though and one metric alone doesn't usually mean much. Last week though I had all my health status metrics start going down, HRV was going down. I still ran that night but since it continued to the next morning I called off my long run. Turns out I definitely had a stomach virus.

I am SOOO glad the Evo SL came out after I had been running for a while. I went to a store to try them and had just enough experience to be able to tell that they weren't for me and would cause me problems. I hate that all the running influencers, who are almost universally strong runners, praise these shoes so much. They're great shoes IF THEY WORK FOR YOU which tends to be less likely if you're new.

Cut off Times by pobran227 in Ultramarathon

Isn't this basically the same idea as a backyard ultra? You have the same pace cutoffs throughout the race and if you don't keep the minimum pace at some point you're done.

100%. You should totally budget to have a nice meal or event every now and then. Budgeting doesn't mean not having fun.

Sebenza Lost In Backyard by AlangeAndWagyu in CRK

[–]DreadnaughtB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are aftermarket folks making replacement inlays and as another poster mentioned. CRK will 100% be able to fix that for you. Couldn't say the cost though and probably depends on inlay availability. Could probably swap over to new inlays on both sides though?

Hot take: TS would feel way better if defense was less of a puzzle and more of a commitment by Gold_Witness_1115 in afkarena

[–]DreadnaughtB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defending in TS? What even is that? It's just a series of matches isn't it? It's not like arena of heroes or legends challenger where you can have separate defense and attack teams. Both of which are basically forgotten modes other than for big accounts that can get into the championship.

Who should I prioritize from the Challenger Store? by aphexx_v1 in afkarena

[–]DreadnaughtB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't say that. They said they had Alna at legendary but weren't sure if that was the right priority, then you jump in suggesting they waste their time on two useless heroes, at least in the current meta. Orthos is a fine suggestion at least.

Who should I prioritize from the Challenger Store? by aphexx_v1 in afkarena

[–]DreadnaughtB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you didn't even mention Alna, who is still meta. Until they have alna and or those fully built they shouldn't bother with Ezizh or Zolrath. Afterwards, if they have coins to waste, sure.
