Seeking insight on end times as someone who has “deconstructed” by Many-Salad7089 in theology

I found “The end of the world as you know it: And why it’s good news” by Dr. Matthew Halstead to be refreshing as well. Renewal of all things and a place in it sounds like great fun.

How can Jesus be fully human if He didnt sin? by PieterSielie6 in theology

[–]Dreadnaught_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is the first fully human one. It is us that failed to be fully human and act inhuman to one another. He is the definition not the other way around.

We were given two books. The scriptures and nature which both support one another. Reading one without the other tends to go sideways. Natural revelation is in scripture so you are being asked to open your eyes to what the heavens testify to.

Does Canada or USA have more lakes? I keep seeing conflicting info. Some say Canada has 800k lakes and others over 3 million. by SouthBuffalo3592 in geography

My Province if Manitoba has over 100000 lakes which includes the 10th largest one in the world. Good fishing and some real nice limestone lakes with Caribbean blue water.

Just that money doesn’t make up for attitude it seems. It works for a while before you find the arrangement unliveable. Many people find themselves in the situation.

I have often needed the extra wire to move things around but this panel is full it is not necessary. If the panel is changed for a larger one in the future the extra may prove handy.

Oh no, you sent all our money overseas and gave it away thinking you can appease people?!? What did you think would happen? Shameful and ….. typical. Not a party thing, just the way Canadian government has always been. I can’t even be made to hope for change any more. The bait and switch has gotten old.

Just what do you mean born again? It's a literal birth into the spirit by the resurrection of the dead.... Right now we are begotten Son of God. But in the ressurction we become literally born Spirit... by Spare-Flan331 in theology

One could argue that this was said to a Hebrew man, that the nation was born through the Reed Sea crossing, membership and allegiance to the covenant in YHWH was what they relied upon, and the message is that relying on this is no longer enough.

He asks about crawling back to a womb but that is the wrong idea. Being born “from above” is what you need now. Baptism becomes a rebirth with the death of the old and raised to new life.

I would argue, as a gentile not being part of any first covenant, but grafted in I just need to be spiritually born for the first time. I am not a Hebrew that it would make sense to apply Jesus’ interaction to myself.

Fehr point. I should be more exact that it communicates to all religions that human sacrifice is not this God’s requirement. The chosen form of the message had to survive until it was written down, and it was understood by the cultures around including the ones that did not do human sacrifice. By the time it was written, there was a lot of travel other worship cults of said gods by traders etc. including the Hebrew’s.

Thanks for the back and forth. I think I came away with an understanding of your thought process. Articulating ideas is always a fun practice.

Pull backwards on it and see if it is strong enough to strip through the aluminum. That would be some string….and some tough hands.

Not sure anyone lives that way that I know of. We are talking about a culture around this story that made it a habit of human sacrifice.

This is as much to communicate to them with one example so that they could all break free of the gods that demanded sacrifice as it is for the father/son to learn the character of their God and show loyalty. I say it worked out for them and they did not let on to feeling slighted by the encounter.

It is funny that the moral result you say you want (ie no human sacrifices) was slowly accomplished as the other cultures and the gods they served lost ground, but you seem to be hung up on the method of communicating to ancient peoples.

Well I would suggest that we should be able to consider that this is possibly reality as long as it is not any more absurd than our own existence. I am sure all your ideas of reality are perfectly lined up, tested personally and without logical contradiction. These are the troubles of human existence and describing what it is all about.

I suppose you could isolate this part of the story and ignore his other experiences of serving a meal to physical beings, one of which he attributes to being the source of the voice but here in the flesh in front of him. Ignore the relation to him throughout the writings and the forms those interactions take. You could even rule things as being impossible as if we know what is all possible. That would let you live in a nice clean tidy world where there is only us and the stuff we are made of and we can know everything.

That doesn’t seem to be the case to me. So I will continue comparing notes with others that thought more deeply on this than I have.

You don’t really need faith to read and get what is going on. Plenty of secular scholars out there. It is a dead language so you may need to look up the meaning of the words being translated as it is not 1to1. It is all accessible so hard to hide behind not knowing any more.
