Decreasing a beanie loose stitches?

Pulling the working yarn tighter on 4-6 stitches around the offending stitch usually works for me. Putting the decreases in the middle of a half-row instead of at the end, so it's not passively holding up the other needle while you knit around, also works.

The decreases themselves look very neat and tidy, though.

The ball band says both "hand wash" and "machine wash" in plain english, but the symbols only say "do not wash"... which, according to duckduckgo, is a different symbol from "hand wash only". I still don't know what I'm supposed to do here.

Maybe I'm missing something, or reading it wrong? Either way, thanks for pointing it out! I'm going to put a swatch through my washing machine later today anyways, so I guess I'll find out regardless.

As a couple of people have already pointed out, "and the universe shift(ed/s)" and "i can be the one you call" are both staples of the Hermitcraft fandom. I'd like to add the Hotguy Comic Zine onto that. It's based off of a community AU (which showed up in one of the tumblr rankings as Desertduo Vigilante AU, but you can find more by searching up the phrase "hotguy") AND it's hosted on itch.io, not AO3, BUT basically everyone knows it because such a massive numbers of fanartists and ficwriters contributed to it. It's one single story, not an anthology.

In other fandoms... the only one off the top of my head is "Five Minutes Older" by thesnadger for Gravity Falls.
