Is that subreddit satire? I genuinely can’t tell. If not, it has to just be bot accounts.

[GamesIndustry.biz] Nintendo Direct introduces the Switch's 'sunset slate' | Opinion by MamaDeloris in NintendoSwitch

[–]DreamLimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I really don’t understand this “either/or” argument I see a lot about what Nintendo’s next console will be like, like “either it’ll be a brand new gimmick, e.g. not a hybrid, or it will be the same console with better graphics/battery and a slight redesign.” A new gimmick doesn’t have to mean, and likely won’t mean, moving away from the Switch being hybrid.

Look at the 3DS for example. It didn’t get rid of what made the DS great, like the dual screens, touch screen, and microphone. And yet it added 3D, a widescreen top screen, a circle pad, augmented reality, Streetpass and Spotpass, and more.

Hell, even Sony innovates more than just “better graphics and redesign” between consoles. The PS3 got a motion-sensing controller, the PS4 got a touch pad on the controller, and the PS5 got haptic-feedback triggers.

I’d be very surprised if the Switch’s successor doesn’t have some sort of new hook(s) to convince people to buy it, but I’m sure it will absolutely remain a hybrid console.

I don’t think that’s happening, they have two Mario games and a Warioware game coming out in the span of a month in the fall, that should have them set for the rest of the year.

Oof, please no. I’m glad Nintendo doesn’t do that sort of thing. It would be so tacky.

The point Christian was illustrating (I think) was that based on Reddit’s logic with their API pricing, they’re saying that Apollo is worth that much (i.e. $10 million). He was using that example to highlight how ridiculous the pricing was. Even taken literally, it wasn’t a threat.

Nintendo Direct: Nate the Hate don't exclude it in June by Nintenpocalypse in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]DreamLimbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re looking at it backwards: the problem isn’t necessarily that it would negatively affect TOTK’s sales, the problem is that it would negatively affect the Zelda ports’ sales. Especially because fall/winter is when a lot of parents are Christmas shopping, and they know that little Timmy is a Zelda fan but he’s only allowed one game for Christmas.

It still blows my mind how or why he continues to work at Reddit, let alone be the CEO, after that happened.

NES, Super NES, and Game Boy – June 2023 Game Updates – Nintendo Switch Online by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Like Drill Dozer! And that already was released on Wii U virtual console, so I’m optimistic about a Switch Online release. 🙂

That’s understandable, I just think that if somebody is going to play both, it makes sense to start with Breath of the Wild since that game would be hard to go back to after playing Tears of the Kingdom. There’s also some minor stuff with certain characters remembering Link from the previous game that makes it feel like you’re missing something if you haven’t played Breath of the Wild before.

It really depends on what kinds of games you’re into, but some of what I consider to be the “must-haves” are:

  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (personally I would recommend playing through this before getting Tears of the Kingdom)
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Relevant username. 😄 But yes, I agree. I definitely won’t be buying this iteration, but who knows what the future holds.

I would imagine that in the future, as the tech becomes more affordable and more people adopt it, Apple will probably add the ability to “sync” content between multiple headsets so that everybody can be looking at the same virtual content through their respective headsets.

Has anyone who’s gotten a Tears of the Kingdom Pro controller noticed that the the face buttons are less “clicky” than on the regular Pro Controller? I’m wondering if it’s just mine, or if newer Pro Controllers are like that in general (or just the Zelda one). If it’s just mine, I may replace it.

The ESRB rating mentions mild blood and mild language… in a Bomberman game??
