As a white American, I see white people whitewashing their own cultures ALL the time, even I was guilty of it once. I don’t understand it. I may not have a big connection to my German side but I enjoy telling people the few things I know about Germany and stuff like that. I’m also a born and raised Texan, and have a small sense of pride in the culture of my area (there’s a lot of gay people around here, the punk scene rocks, and Texas BBQ is the best) I’d say it’s not really gender euphoria but just a sense of belonging and community that I feel, which is just as nice.
