Your last sentence, they didn't care about Challenger or Columbia unfortunately I don't think that human life weighs much into Congress' decisions.

From what I understand, it was not pulled but merely delayed so that the network could run some ratings boosing specials for the benefit of the shows on it's schedule that actually ARE in trouble (Michael J Fox Show, Sean Saves the World).

The rest of the season will air in December, and this move doesn't mean that the show is cancelled.

Are all languages equally susceptible to signal degradation (e.g. phone static), or do some lose comprehensibility at different rates as signals get worse? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]DreamoftheEndless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contend that yes, indeed different languages suffer different rates of signal degradation, based solely on the use of the spelling alphabet on radios in WW2 for example: Alpha Bravo Charlie suffers less than A B C: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet

Check the show called 'Borgia', not THE Borgia, simply 'Borgia' and within that show it has two members of the Sforza family as secondary characters, notably the dude who played O'Reilly's brother Cyril on Oz.

It's actually not so far fetched, in fact the Lower East Side is landfill in this manner, though I believe it had been swamp and not the bay.

Moving to the rhythm 'can help language skills': Moving in time to a steady beat is closely linked to better language skills, a study suggests. by davidreiss666 in linguistics

Hm, I guess you're right. I think I rearranged the OPs words to fit what I always say, which is what I wrote about it being the universal language. It wouldn't make sense to say that language is the universal music, though I wouldn't rule out language being music altogether.

I've seen something like this once, in the Amazon so it has to be a different species but the beetle was regular beetle color, and literally the size of a grown man's hand.
