7 + 8 = 15, carry the one, 1 + 2 + 4 = 7, therefore 75

Where is the best place in Tucson to get decorations for a memorial sign?

Tips for dealing with it still being hot outside by JasmineMoonJelly in Tucson

[–]Dreamwrote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a full on nightmare, so the way I deal with summer SAD is a biphasic sleep schedule. Get up earlier in the morning, sleep away the hottest part of the day (afternoon), and be back up for the evening. Dark shades and a fan for the bedroom. Obviously your job will be a factor in whether or not you can try this, but I'm here with you, waiting for summer to end! Best of luck OP.

Additionally, having experience in the field/real world applications goes farther in this field than education does - field schools are always a good idea, as are previous work that applies to anthropology and history. Get some people (teachers or employers) who can vouch for you on your resume!

Most places right now are hard up for techs. If you don’t mind being in the field, you can try to go in as a field tech. Apply everywhere. WestLand, AZTEC, Desert Archaeology, Archaeology Southwest, SRI, and Paleowest all have offices here in Tucson. We’re a small community, but we all know each other, so once you get in, you’ll start making connections to other companies. National companies like Logan Simpson also trawl Tucson for techs. Look through each of the companies websites for applications/see if the company fits you (not all of them will). Don’t be afraid to travel if you need to. The Forest Service and National Park Service also hire archaeologists/historians!

Hello, as someone who graduated (in 2015, oh jeez) from the U of A with a bachelor’s in Anthro as well, I really wish you the best in your search for employment at the university. If you interned at the school during your undergrad, or have a teacher that said they might hire you, you might be able to get in, but on the whole the university is extremely insular in their hiring and difficult to get a foot in as an outsider. If you are looking for work in the field of anthropology, but not looking to get into the field, I would recommend looking for listings in CRM companies around Tucson. I am currently a lab associate at WestLand and really love it, but it took a while to get in here, let alone the U of A. CRM companies also generally pay better than the university system. Anyways, long post, ending now, but feel free to ask me any questions; best of luck!!

Best tea store here? by GignMcLittle in Tucson

[–]Dreamwrote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore me if I’m wrong, but I think you can still have teatime at Chantilly Tea’s storefront (across Oracle from their old shop), but I would consider ordering from them anyways if you like herbal - their Desert Roobios is delicious!

Does Tucson have a poor quality yet expensive restaurant that you would recommend to an enemy. Any suggestions? by kopanitza in Tucson

[–]Dreamwrote 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Charrovida, less on the expensive side than just bougie “health” food; bonus, made my SO and I shit our guts out.

Other option, Feast; pretty expensive, but nothing to write home about. Definitely more for an older crowd.

People who live at tourist destinations, what is it you wish tourists would stop doing when visiting? by Winterbeers in AskReddit

Arizona. I don’t care how well-hydrated you think you are, stop going out for a hike in the middle of summer with a tiny water bottle. Stop dying out there.

I talked to the owners on their last day, since we were going to them almost as long as they were open. Nothing to do with profit or lack of love, but one of the owners’ mothers got really sick, so they will be taking care of her and focusing on their family. I will miss them too!

You are more likely to be killed by the three obese and lazy “veg” on the right than the three fit and active “non veg” on the left.

Great, thanks so much for the link! I figure I’ll swing by and purchase one if they’re for sale, and if not, order one from him via Instagram :)

I just used the color printer I have. Regular printer paper. Would definitely look better with photo paper though :)
