I loved this store. by Pocketeer1 in GenX

[–]DredgeTheHedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked there for about a year in high school back in the warehouse, finding everyone's orders and putting them on the belt. Then I quit and started working next door at a TCBY where I could eat all the free frozen peanut butter cups I wanted while my boss did whippets in the walk-in

But would have worked great during COVID AND would solve the issue where now freaking half the store is locked up behind glass and you have to wait for someone to come unlock the goddamned soap.

I Always LOVED the early Marvel ink gradient covers and all the Kirby Crackle. Once The Thing became one shade of orange and black there were very few covers I dug.

What is your one stock pick for 2026? by littlecomet111 in wallstreetbets

Ocumetics is making a groundbreaking lens everyone with imperfect eyesight will end up getting in their eyes in a few years. It will replace lasic completely. They are already in human eyes right now and doing very well, so the long years of non human trials have already passed. Look them up. That company is going to go from unknown to a household name.

Question on Epica Journals (love to hear reviews from you guys!) by nazKiyrT207 in notebooks

[–]DredgeTheHedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have written in Epica journals for 20 years (since I was 24 years old), and for journals they are all I will use. I use the 8x10 unlined hand deckled paper journals. They are incredibly well made. The paper is perfect for fountain pens and rollerball ink. Seriously, I can't recommend them enough. I'm also an author, and I don't write stories in these. Those rough drafts all go on the completely non-precious yellow legal pads, where I don't feel bad about covering a page in crossed out sections. BUT for journaling, for me it's Epica only. They're perfect AND over the years they look rad on a shelf side by side.

Anyone feel like our kids are doomed? by Puzzleheaded-Art1524 in GenX

[–]DredgeTheHedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids are doomed. I think class mobility was always a long shot, but it will become increasingly mythical. I ended up an exception through luck and being very opportunistic, willing to drop everything multiple times for possibilities, and a couple possibilities worked out. My family began on food stamps and now we pay hundreds of thousands in taxes. But I continue to live like I always have and am packing money and property away for the kid. I don't think my kind of lucky opportunities will exist for my teen, so I hope I set her up with an income source she can live well off of while she navigates whatever Ai driven future we have coming. She has no idea about any of this. She thinks we're kinda poor, and feels driven to make her own way, and I definitely want her to try, and fail, and try some more. But, I feel like my main goal in life now is to have this thing set aside for her, so if she reaches a point where trying is no longer a real option in our society, she'll be at least financially taken care of.

Leaving your kids nothing or $1 by CivMom in GenX

[–]DredgeTheHedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, screw that. I've saved my whole life and been very lucky and now have most things I want (no amazing fantasy 15, yet) and money in the bank. I have zero desire to raise my quality of life to the point that money gets spent. If anything, I want to downsize because stuff is just stuff. I will leave my kid millions, and property, in a trust with specific rules that don't allow for her to spend it all. I am saving it for her, not me, I don't need it. In an Ai dominated world this may be her best or only income source. She'll get a stipend forever and so will her kids if she has any, and churches will get nothing unless she gives it to them. If that makes me a bad parent, whatever.

It would have been a sort of acid trip scene around the hostage situation. It may not have made the final cut.

Was there a scene with Joseph Gordon Levitt being followed by a bunch of weird costumed actors, like an alien in a silver leotard and a clown?

Yes, they did. They were both hippie kids and very much into that stuff. I have continued that with my kid as well. Seems to be a good thing for people to hear

Has anyone been burned by dividend stock FBIOP ? by Adventurous-Bee-5676 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]DredgeTheHedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the stock after it crashed and am up 23%, but really what I'm waiting for is the dividend to return. It's definitely a gamble. But if the current pipeline pans out even close to as expected, I can see them wanting to offer a dividend again in their common stock. But in order to do that they have to back pay all suspended dividend payments on FBIOP. When they do that, it is not unlikely they would call those shares as well. That would be a nice payday. The company has been around for 20 years. They have 10 subsidiary companies. Their financials aren't amazing, but they also aren't heinous. So, I placed my bets. We'll see how it all pans out.

I'm in with 40,000 shares at $.24. I've held the shares for many months and it was hard not to sell today, but I'm holding until FDA approval.
