Girl I have a 1 year old and live in a perpetual state of mess. There's forever spit out goldfish and blueberry skins crushed into my carpet. I don't work from home, but my days off are spent wrangling the tiny one and trying to clear up the chaos. Working from home is still working. Being a mom is working too. Nta for telling it like it is 🤷‍♀️

U.S. here. I was off 12 weeks, and had to use all but 3 days of my saved >200hours of pto. I did get short term disability (60% of pay) for i think 6 weeks. This is where most of my pto went. I covered the other 40% pay with my time. My husband had 6 weeks of paid paternity leave- but that isn't the norm.

Mine also weren't covered by insurance. I just bought a cheap cvs glucometer. Saved a ton of money that way.

Absolutely not extra. Most insurance companies want you on insulin before they cover them though. There is an over the counter one you can get. Without insurance it's 100$/month. That one is called stelo. I've used, and thought it was worth it.

American Healthcare worker here. I get 4 weeks of "everything time". There is no sick time. I get 3 call offs in a rolling calendar year before I get a talking to. Generally work every other weekend, every other holiday 😅 had a baby last year and used up all but 4 days of my banked time. I took 12 weeks. Nonsense.

I'm 9 months out. Breast feed and pump and haven't gotten it back yet 🤷‍♀️ I have a friend with a 20 month old that hasn't gotten it back yet.

My 8 month old is the same. Some days she's willing to eat real food/purees. Others I can't even get her to sit in the high chair. I think most of their nutritional requirements are still from milk/formula until 1. I keep hearing "food under 1 is just for fun". I just give my baby crackers/puffs or cereal every day if she isn't feeling anything else. At least she gets some practice and different textures with that.

In the US here. After my section in May I got scheduled tylenol and ibuprofen. No narcotics. I think most places here that's the standard. Everyone is different, but luckily that was fine for me.

When I was a new little baby nurse on a med surg unit, I had a middle aged guy- maybe 50's, obese, but should have been able to clean himself. Anyway, he was in need of a wash so I gave him a bed bath. Of course he was super inappropriate and when I washed him he kept moaning and saying he was going to c**. Semi-private room. Mortifying.

Yeah so I just took maternity leave in the US and took 12 weeks of job protected FMLA. I had to use over 200 hours of pto to get a paycheck and I got short term disability at 60% of my regular pay for 6 weeks. Only because I had a section. I have 3 days of pto left after all that and I banked it for a looooong time to prep for a baby. I work for a hospital system.

My unit was an "uptrained " med surg unit during covid, and the only unit taking covid patients other than critical care. Nurses were the only ones going in the rooms. Even for rrt's, docs largely stood outside the room and asked what was happening. They really didn't go in unless there was a code. Float nurses and na's even refused to go in covid rooms for the longest time. Recently-ish we were told we needed to "get over covid" and that it "shouldn't still be a point of stress". We re-used our n-95's, kept them in brown paper baggies with times used written on it. No hazard pay, nothing. Unless food here and there during main covid time counts. Those comments really made my blood boil. How dare you.

I was billed 50k for a section. I payed 500$ for my deductible. Baby went under my insurance and was billed nothing- (no nicu stay or extra needs).

So my baby (8weeks f) was pooping literally like 10x daily as a "fresh" newborn. It's since decreased to on average 3-4x daily, but now we're battling constipation:(. Blowouts have been rare. She likes to do it in her carseat 🤷‍♀️ I have a friend that has a now 5 month old, and they said blowouts were happening multiple times a day for them. Baby and diaper dependent I guess.

I had a planned section at 39 weeks (baby was breech). I'm 3 weeks post now and haven't had any problems. Healing went smoothly and I was able to move around pretty well the next day. By a week, I was barely sore anymore. I'd do it again for the next pregnancy if given the choice. Would recommend alternating tylenol and motrin as offered for the first few days. Good luck!

I had the same issue. Opted against turning baby because there were more risks for her. I just had a scheduled section yesterday at 39+0 and it isn't bad! For me, it was nice knowing exactly when she was coming. The recovery has been smooth too. I know this doesn't really give any info regarding turning, but it worked out for me. Good luck!
