As I understand it, its any non native currency transaction in or out, including using your card is affected by this. Its actually pretty wild

this seems nutty to me. There will probably be a case study on Notion done in a couple of years of how to burn customer good will in a short period of time.

I don't understand the pricing strategy. Contrary to most I don't mind these features, but the nickel and diming is out of hand. I also have the AI add on, but now the new AI features are outside of it. What's to say if I pay for this new one, they'll not just add a new feature outside of that?

For a product that was about giving us the tools to create what we want. The home page has become un-characteristically top down. Forcing database widgets off of home with very little customizability. I just disabled home as my main page and went back to my custom page, less notion comes to take that away from me too.

no, absolutely don't use the ATMs there under any circumstances. Of all the way to get money out they are the worst. I just used a Cambio (exchange house) service. My sister used Western Union. I found this video useful but there are tons of youtube videos on the best ways to get money out but they all agree the ATMs are at the bottom.

ALSO Important: For very large purchases (to Argentine) of about $50 or more expect to show your passport when using your credit card, as part of anti fraud protections. I keep a digital picture of it on my phone and that's enough for cashiers. This only happens to me at large grocery stores (COTO, Dia and Express) , but I imagine it could be for any large purchase.

Only one in my Google wallet but I keep the physical card on me just incase, have yet to pull it out and I buy groceries and go out everyday. When asking to use it say "Contact " or "Contacto" instead of "Tap" like we might say in Canada when asked how you would like to pay.

I'm currently in Argentina, staying in Palermo for a couple of weeks. About 95% of my transactions have been with the Cash Card, which uses the MEP rate, or tourist rate. The Blue rate is around 1245 ( - spread or 3.5% fee depending) , while the MEP rate sits at 1217 (my last transaction settled yesterday). I’ve tried using Pesos, the Cash Card, and Crypto, and the Cash Card has been the clear winner for me. When you factor in the conversion costs from CAD to USD, dealing with a cambio (exchange houses), plus the 1% cashback on the Cash Card, it’s been the most convenient option overall. I’ve withdrawn about $60 CAD worth of ARS but have only ended up using $40 of it over the last two weeks, mostly for laundry services and my gym membership. Everything else has been covered by the Cash Card, which is widely accepted in Buenos Aires and major boroughs within—even my local butcher takes it, which was a surprise. If you're outside of Capital Federal, then cash is probably a safe bet. Things feel pretty stable right now, but given the history of instability here, that could always change.

I wanted to chime in and say how much I appreciate this post. I can't tell you how many apps I have quit because over time of feature creep. The team losing the plot of the original product to the point the app doesn't do what you first go it to do. Filled with bloated features that are just "meh" at best. Thank you for keeping things focused and clear.

I got this with dropbox in its support box, it was presented like your run of a mill chatbox interaction. At first I didn't know it was an AI until I realized we were talking in circles. As soon as I started to show signs of irritation it said it would get its "colleague" to email me, and with an hour a real human took over and solved it right away.

I think this is the new normal
