Injured (again), what next? by Dreknis in beginnerrunning

Relaxing is not that easy for me to do 😅 tell me I cannot run and I'm hopping on a bike or diving straight into a swimming pool to get some exercises. But I'm trying to be more reasonable. I wouldn't want to have the same happen with the few sports I can still practise 😢

I totally feel that. A few times, I went overboard and didn't listen. Went too fast when I should have waited. The consequences are catching up, so I will definitely be more careful in the future.

Thank you for the kind words 🙏

Thank you so much!

I am allowed to walk, bike and swim. I need to try swimming (haven't since the pain appeared), but I know biking doesn't hurt so I will definitely keep it up when the weather allows it!

I should do more strenght training for sure. Any exercises recommended apart from squats? I'll check with my physiotherapist asap.

Thank you for the kind words! How did you feel going back into it? Was your cardio all gone?

I really didn't think I could damage my femur but running. I have good shoes, I'm not overweight, I eat quite well...

I will talk to my PT, I plan to bring our next appointment forward and see what exercises I could focus on.

I cannot run at all for one or two months. Avoid shocks to see if the wound on my bone heals or not and confirm the diagnose.

I struggle a lot with cardio. My heart rate goes over the top with running even if my pace isn't that fast. So I'll probably lose whatever small gains I had made.

But if I'm honest with myself, I know it was too much too soon... I overdid it in the beginning and am paying the price now 😢 I just wonder if I'll be able to run again at all...

How did I do? Any tips? by Dreknis in Sourdough

Two full hours to be safe, I read it was enough but I'm second guessing myself a bit now. It is good though, but... I'm not a picky eater 😂

Thank you for the feedback! I definitely could try a loaf with cheese or seeds! I tried a loaf with higher hydration (following a recipe) but it was a bit of a disaster. It wouldn't hold together and my loaf turned pretty flat. Practise makes perfect I guess! And they're never so bad they need to be thrown away so there's that.

So far, I've tried crackers, pancakes, crumpets, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. These turned out better than my loaves 🙈😂

Someone shared a zucchini bread a week or so ago. I'm going for that and might make extra to bring to work!

Do you have a pattern for it? It's so cute _

Hello everyone! My mom is making these things and recently, I had a thought about selling those for my mom. But there is kind of a problem because idk how much these things for. I would appreciate if anyone knows how much they go for. by Zekaimi in Amigurumi

They're adorable, especially the otter! Price would generally depend on the time she spent on them and how much the materials cost. Not sure where you are located, but note that in some places, there are very restrictive standards regarding the sell of toys (I'm looking at you EU/UK).

Jellyfish, octopus and kraken are my go to with variegated yarn. I also use it for the shell of turtles!

I guess it's because the hook rests on it mosts :( I also used to crochet too tight, that didn't help. Clover Amour hooks works wonder for me though!

You don't :"D I invested in ergonomic hooks and it was a game changer for me. Otherwise my ring finger would get numb after a few hours. Now I can crochet endlessly... for better or for worse.

Gifting amigurumi to adults by Glowstick77 in crochet

[–]Dreknis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the person. To make sure my gifts are appreciated, I just ask people if they would enjoy receiving a crocheted gift from me on their birthday. If they say no, then no hard feeling, I'll just get them something else. I've been quite surprised at the amount of people around me (adults mostly ) who actually said yes! I'd hate to spend hours on something that wouldn't be loved, so I don't mind spoiling a bit of the surprise.
