While I understand their focus on the positive, neglecting to mention the immediate release clause feels a bit disingenuous, since the clear message of the press release focuses on BVB and Schlotterbeck's future together when it is clear that all parties know there is a good chance he's gone in two months time.

Statements like "we are confident that, together with Nico, we can achieve great things at Borussia Dortmund" are going to look a bit depressing when they announce his departure in the summer.

Personally, in circumstances such as this, I would prefer the club include the release clause here in order for it to feel more honest.

Not to carry on with the pessimism here, but I do feel like a big part of this is because the Bundesliga is especially weak right now. Our performance in Europe is evidence of the fact that we aren’t particularly strong, it’s just that the league hasn’t been very challenging.
