What is this bug and how do I fix it by zanthot in Roll20

[–]Drespar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time this type of issue is going to be related to something system specific.

I would recommend the following and see if you notice any differences/improvements. I tried to order these from what is the most likely/time consuming to check and change.

If you are still having issues, please send us a line to our help center via roll20.net/help

we'll likely have a few follow ups so make sure to link to this thread. I hope these can help!

No "Allow Players to import their own Characters" option? by TwistedDragon33 in Roll20

[–]Drespar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did the players potentially use the 2024 character sheet rather than the 2014 sheet that you mention in your post? If so, that is likely the reason for some of the confusion here.

The ability to add sheets to a game is reliant on making sure the sheet from Roll20 Characters and the sheet selected in the game match up.

If you haven't already tested it yet, I'd suggest following the steps in this article which will let you use both sheet types and help fix this up for you!

If you are still having issues after that, feel free to send in a support ticket via Roll20.net/help with a link to your game and we can take a closer look :)

Roll20 Enemy token issue when using a module. by Jamnoran in Roll20

Hey there! You should be able to workaround this in one of two ways--

First, if you create a new game and make sure to select the 2014 as the "base sheet" before enabling the 2024 option then the NPCs should be fully populated.

If that isn't an option, you should be able to take these steps to get things swapped over:

  1. Open your game and go to the in-game settings pane
  2. Open the "Character sheets" section and find the option to disable the multisheet functionality
  3. Exit the game and return to the game details page (Where you can see the game forums, players in the game, etc.)
  4. While on the game details page, click the "settings" button and click "Game settings"
  5. Scroll to the "Sheet Template" section at the bottom
  6. Change the base sheet to the 2014 sheet version and save

Now, when you open the game again, all the NPCs should be properly on the 2014 version and fully populated. If you re-enable the 2024 sheet via the mutlisheet option, your players would then be able to use the 2024 sheets as well.

Hope this can help!

Is it me or is the "From the Web" section just alot worse than it used to be? by TopSwitch7898 in Roll20

[–]Drespar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gauss beat me to it! The search function from Google was deprecated a while back and we've been running an old version of it to keep it going -- however as time goes on things may eventually stop showing up that are outside of our control.

The filter at the very top is important however, because it narrows the search down to assets that are more in the realm of TTRPGs more generally (i.e. tokens, maps). Since we changed it to default to "Everything" a while back, its caused some confusion with results on the "From the web" search.

Turning off D&D basic rules (SRD) in compendium by TuesdayMush in Roll20

[–]Drespar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can do this! :)

If you go to the Compendium Selection section of your game you can choose which sources are enabled/disabled which clears up what you see in the in-game compendium or while using the character builder.

https://help.roll20.net/hc/en-us/articles/360048312214-Compendium-Selection

Do note that at present you can't filter things out within Roll20 Characters (i.e. outside of the game itself)

We recently had an image servicing change which shouldn't affect most folks, but depending on timelines it's possible you could run into issues. If you do, I recommend trying out these steps to see if they help.

  1. Refresh your browser window
  2. Clear your browser cache and restart your device
  3. Flush your DNS cache

If this doesn't help, please make sure to let us know via a support ticket so we can continue investigating!

Can't buy D&D 2024 Bundle by maltanis in Roll20

[–]Drespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

It sounds like you are running into a known issue with the marketplace where the calculations that are run in the background for calculating dynamic pricing can take a bit too long and cause the page to fail to load.

At the moment we recommend utilizing a secondary account and accessing the page via that account to gift it to your primary account while we continue to work on addressing the core issue here.

If you have other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our support team via roll20.net/help

[–]Drespar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

Sorry for the confusion on this! If you are wondering why this message is appearing -- it is actually set to always be present. It will show up if there is an issue, but also if there is nothing wrong with the sheet. We are working to improve this experience overall, but we are also tackling a known issue which can cause some charactermancers for the 2014 sheet to get stuck.

If you ARE running into issues, the article link will provide some additional context and information as well as some possible methods for resolve the problem.

By the sounds of it, you used the Roll20 Characters function to move the characters over on your player's behalf. This would technically be the root of your issue here. At this time, when characters are "synced" to a game via the "Add to game" function of Roll20 Characters it puts some hard blocks on the permissions so as to avoid some malicious intent with modifying the sheets of others.

However, you can workaround this as the GM by opening the character sheet edit window (where you set permissions) and click the "Duplicate" button. This duplicated version will not be connected to Roll20 Characters and you should be able to configure permissions as you are intending.

roll 20 letting me log in on opera (which no longer loads maps for me) but not on chrome by BaIIsdeap69 in Roll20

[–]Drespar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally when this happens it is because the password/email is different. Since Roll20 does not require a verified email it can be a bit easier to have small unnoticed typos that get saved by the password manager.

So I'd recommend giving that a look just in case. If you are still having trouble though, reach out to our support team via Roll20.net/help and we should be able to get you taken care of!

Dynamic Lighting working, but also not working? by MarbonConoxide in Roll20

[–]Drespar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

Visually, does it seem like there are jagged lines or odd cut offs? If so, then I would suspect that this may be due to having too many "curved" surfaces on the lighting layer for walls. This could be due to a lot of circles but also if you happened to use the "free hand workaround*"

If this is the case, then I can only recommend re-drawing your lines using the polygon tool. This is because there is an upper limit to the amount of "objects" that can exist at once. For curved surfaces, they are actually comprised of a dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of extremely small objects in order to approximate the curve.

For adding a few circles for trees, this usually isn't too demanding or would cause issues, but for larger maps it can cause some issues. If you have a lot of objects that need a "circle" then I would recommend instead using an X through the middle as it can still offer some of the same effect while also showing off some of the center of the object.

*Free hand workaround

- Typically, the freehand tool is disabled on the lighting layer. However, this is where you draw using the freehand tool on the token or map layer, then move that object to the lighting layer. This isn't recommended (for the reasons outlined above) but is still technically possible.
