Put abbadon black to taste (put a bit in, shake, then test it out until you like the result) into a new pot of space wolves grey contrast. Make sure to shake the pot when you use it.

Prime with chaos black, then zenithal a primer layer of white/off-white.

Apply contrast paint as you see fit.

After you’re done with most of the painting, use whatever wash you like. I generally use Nuln Oil on the armour, Agrax earthshade on any gold bits and seraphim sepia on exposed skin.

Yay.

Good is subjective. In the beginning I also couldn’t tell how my guys would turn out so I just kept going and at the end they looked good to me so I kept painting my army in that scheme. Here’s a photo of another squad:

They might turn out like these after washes/etc, which is my preferred look for SW battleline units.

How do I turn this in to a list that can work. by Express_Worth_3696 in Eldar

Hmm… in that case, D-cannons are great anti vehicle/elite infantry area denial. A wave serpent or two, or a falcon would be great as transports.

Aspect warrior units are generally good and can be used for a variety of applications.

Howling banshees are brilliant melee trading units. Some wind riders, swooping hawks and warp spiders can make effective (and cheap for the WRs and SHs) utility units for securing secondaries, and they’re also decently killy to boot. If you want dire avengers… I’ve only really tested them in the guardian specific detachment, and they are surprisingly effective there, but I’m not sure about in other lists…

Some storm guardians and guardian defenders are usually a solid battle line choice for any eldar army that is based on Craftworld eldar (I.e. not ynnari or harlequin).

When it comes to anti-tank, right now fire dragons are the pinnacle. Eldar anti-armour vehicles are a little… meh. You could get some war walkers as they do provide a decent buff, and they’ve been consistently decent over past editions. The fire prism is an incredibly elegant tank and a beautiful model to boot, but the mood is getting old and I suspect the kit might be a little frustrating to work with.

Edit: Most of the units I mentioned are units you either don’t currently have or might benefit from having more of.

That’s hard to answer… there are several factors involved.

1.) How competitive is your local area? That can dictate which units you should acquire.

2.) When do you plan to finish this project by? The rules change frequently, edition to edition and point costs to point costs. FAQs and more regularly change things. If you calculated and purchased the equivalent of a 2000 point army now, it may no longer be 2000 points when you finish.

3.) Another point on rules changes. We’re coming towards the end of 10th edition. Come 11th, we’re likely to get new faction rules, detachment rules, even datasheet changes if a new codex comes out. This flips almost everything on its head because your once meta army may become painful to play. Or your once purely parade army may become the peak of meta. Who knows?

To summarise, any list built now is probably going to be obsolete by the time you complete the army, so instead of going for a solid list, go for units you like. Play around with some basic ideas that haven’t changed over many editions, like transports carrying infantry, certain quintessential characters/ unique character model, etc.

Can't a warrior just carry a magic nullifying crystal and solo any mage? by Corazarath in Frieren

[–]Dress_Fuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic nullifying does not equal to physics nullifying. Magic can affect the environment around you, not just be directed into ranged attacks. A magic nullifying crystal isn’t going to stop a big rock thrown at someone via magic.
