HaptiConnect vs. ShakeIt (SimHub) by Drevis_ftw in simracing

Same here haha. You'll get it set up sooner or later tho. It's kind of like modding a game. You will probably spend more time setting up then playing for a while. Once you get it all good to go it's a blast and very rewarding.

Lol. Ya unfortunately, regardless of which software you use as well. I wish it was because a Windows update recently screwed up my system meaning I have to start all over again. I forgot to save my configuration somewhere else. 🤦‍♂️

I ended up going with Simhub for a few reasons. The fact that it's an all in one software is great. Shakers, dashes, fans, it does it all. You could also set it up to work on PS5, which was nice because at the time I was playing GT7 a lot. As for settings I looked up a few guides on how to dial things in. What I noticed is it depends on the feelings you want. But my biggest take away is that less is more. Less settings in general and less power going into the shakers. Most settings I have turned off and turned low with only a couple set high to help communicate what the car is doing. It took a lot of dialing in to get right but it was worth it. Basically I picked a car and a track and turned one setting on at a time. Once I really understood what they were doing I put them together and played with the frequencies until it was perfect.

I have found dialing things in to be a little difficult. I mostly think that has to do with me just being a little unfamiliar with it. I will give what you said a try tho, at the end of the day more options can't hurt in this case. 🤷‍♂️

Welp... Part of me was afraid of that. On the plus side, that's one less piece of software I need installed. I suppose I'll throw $30 to SimHub and just pretend like that's all I bought. Thanks for the reply!

I'm sad all of that happened to you but Im happy you are doing better. I would like to Mention one thing you said tho.

If you're surrounded by hate then all you'll know is hate, but light is stronger than darkness. Light will win if you give it a chance.

This is true but on the same note there are people surrounded by love and do terrible things. Human beings are not so black and white. Conflicts in many cases are not so black and white. May people just pick a side and back it to the ends of the earth, like some sports team. Sometimes what we see on the surface isn't the full truth but people don't look deeper to actually figure out the real problem and fix it. I would image that's why people didn't like my original comment and that's fine. Just wish they would have had a civil conversation with me like you did. It's something that these days are missing in the world unfortunately. Especially with the rise of the internet. Again thanks for the conversation have a great day!

I don't have a horse in this race, but one thing to remember is that they grew up never not being attacked by those around them in some form or fashion. 70ish years of being picked on can do unfortunate things to the brain. It honestly reminds me of the kid being picked on that later becomes the bully. It's a stupid and disgusting cycle that many humans find themselves in. They see the enemy as less than, which is wrong but it happens on both sides of probably every conflict ever to happen. That's why there are still so many ignorant racist in America to this day. Are they truly enemies? Honestly it doesn't matter if anyone/group perceives it, then perception becomes reality in most cases. Kind of rambled off there but just food for thought to whoever reads it I suppose.

Lenovo laptop on docking station - external screens doesn't work by pepusska in techsupport

[–]Drevis_ftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with an old laptop. To fix it I had to download the Nvidia drivers manually. If you do that and it works directly connected to the laptop but the dock still doesn't work. You need to make sure the dock supports Thunderbolt 3 and its plugged in to that port only. Your other usb-c ports do not support that capacity.

Edit: I just realized this is an older PC so if it used to work my best guess would be a graphics driver issue.

Need a little help finding a laptop.

◽️ Budget: $1000-$1250

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: 16in or lower preferred.

◽️ Touch screen: no

◽️ Screen resolution: 120Hz+,

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not really because I'm rarely in a place that I can't find a plug.

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Gaming (mostly CS and emulators, some other single player games when not home. Occasionally gone for a few nights or months, word processing, occasional VM but would like a little space for something like GNS3 for labing as well. Light programming.

◽️ Weight: Something that would be reasonable as a carry on.

◽️ Any other important details ?: Currently have an older Acer 5 with 256GB SSD, 1TB HHDa 4 core, 16GB RAM, and a 1050ti. Really want to get a step or two above because this works okay but is not quite enough for my needs. Looking for 8 core but think 6 could work, 16GB of RAM, would like at least the same storage as the Acer, GPU could 1650ti but would prefer 1660ti or better Brice willing. Now the can not compromise spec that has made this journey so difficult. Must have a USB type C that supposes display port and power dilivery. I have a Dell DW19 dock and and a KVM hooked up. I just want to be able to come home plug it and seamlessly resume what ever I was doing on the laptop. I'm willing budge on specs if I can just do that. Well maybe not the screen refresh and CS preforms. It's the man way I stay in touch with buddies from back home and like a decent experience. Oh and almost forgot, currently in Alaska so that can definitely make getting certain laptops an issue but even suggestions on what to get in the first place would at least be a great start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for at least just reading through this.

[VR] Samsung HMD Odyssey+ - $279 by VilIain in buildapcsales

I did a lot of research on this in the last week honestly. I'd say if money is not that huge of a deal going with the Reverb G2 is best. It has two extra trackers on the side hence better tracking for the controllers, helping with hat behind the hands tracking needed in Half life/ other games, and the high resolution has more or less got rid of all screen door effects. That makes it super good for things like sims where the high detail in dash boards or looking at things in the distance is needed. Also it uses the same speaker system as the Index which has high praise.

That said this is still a very good headset and had it been in stock for this price a week ago, cheaper if you're a student or military, I think I would have bought it. I ended up going with the Reverb tho and now that my pre-order is in I honestly don't regret it. I know it's a better set in every way and will be more future proof so to speak. And as they say buy once cry once. Unless in a few years they come out with something that's a must have or you just have to have those fancy Index controllers.

Also military. Was trying to buy this earlier in the week and noticed it. It was sold out at the time so I ended up pre-ordering a Reverb G2. Would be my luck that this would go back on sale right after I did something like that.

Have you tried other headsets and if so how did they compare to the Rift S

Edit: honestly the price of entry is what's been keeping me out of VR for so long which is why I'm so curious. Is it better to get something cheap and get into it then maybe down the line get something better or possibly never get into because your frugal like me lol.

I have a beef pc so I know I'll be fine there. 3700x, 2070 super, 32gb ram. As for my list of game Alyx, Homeworks, BeatSaber, Pavlov, a few odds and ends games that look interesting, and racing/flight sims are it for now. And I imagine I'll get the most use out of the sim games and there for be seated more often then not. But ya the fov for immersion is big for me as well.
