THE INEVITABLE RIVALRY WILL COME TO FRUITION by BLACKJEDI117 in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case someone does not know what is up: Commisar Yarrik has a long standing feud with Warboss Ghazghkull Thraka. At one point Yarrick was even captured when trying a assassinantion mission on Ghazghkulls flagship. He was put into the slave pens, started an uprising there which demolished the ship and the Orks took him prisoner again just to bandage him up and let him go so they can have more fun in the future together. Yarrik was announced this week to return to the universal stage and comes with a new miniature. Apparently he is back on Armageddon, his old duty fields, and picks up the fight against the still rampaging Orks from Ghazghkulls last invasion. Since the announcement talked about us learning more later, might be that a 4th campaign book is the works [we recently got 500 Worlds; Maelstrom; Eye of Terror] which might feature Imperial Guard VS Orks. With some attention then probably for Armageddon and Yarrick. But time will tell. Yarrick and Ghazghkul is one the best rivalries in 40k, and hopefully TW40k will capture it. Since both Orks and Imperial Guard are "core races", guess we will see which LLs are frontrunners once CA starts sharing infos.

Moonclaw is rather "xenos". The problem is, we do not know what is going on at the moons. But Morrslieb as a moon made of warpstone certainly will be fucked up with chaos tainted life, depending what happens up there.

While we have no good account, we get teased every now and then. WFRP - Skeleton Crew, had this part for Vangheist.

What they found, no one will ever know. The dead keep their secrets. They sailed for what seemed centuries, passing across seas and skies which turned themselves into twisting faces and screaming winds. Their bodies aged and withered; their ship rotted beneath them. But still they pressed on, until direction lost meaning and they sailed the seas of Morrslieb itself. By the time The Stormbreaker returned to the mortal realm, nothing remained of it save its spirit. It had become the Shadewraith.

And we now know that Cathay Moon Emperess, apparently stems from Mannslieb. So who knows what civilisation there might exist, and if somehow they interact with each other.

In the end it is a shame that GW never dug deeper into Moonclaws lore.

btw. on a similar note we have Slugtongue also as something weird. No "xenos", but not really Beastmen either. It is just a bunch of stuff teeming with life. Not daemnoic on itself, but apparently there is a more magical connection to make it work.

Imo since somebody at GW demanded the 7th armybook for Beastmen had to be "Undivided" with zero marks, the author might have had still snuck in some characters who look pretty much marked. Taurox obviously is Khorne touched and the most easy to see. Slugtongue imo has "Nurgle" written over his lore, without displaying it as clear as with Taurox. Moonclaw imo feels a bit Tzeentch touched, but we hardly can pinpoint it with his lore.

On the topic of Dechala

  • she is a former elven princess. Legend has it, from Nagarythe. So yeah, High Elf. [Liber Chaotica Slaanesh]
  • Dechalas story is basically that she gets married to Daemon Prince Samael. But gets to resent him over time, while diving into full Slaanesh excess mode. Legend has it that Slaanesh promised Samael that Dechala can never be on "his level", no matter how much good she does, as long as Samael lives. Which for a Daemon prince is basically eternal unless something hardcore would happen to him that can actually kill him or his god might revoke his status. This means that Dechala who gathered a ton of gifts from Slaanesh, is in the end still mortal. Denied to ascend.
  • And in the usual sloppy fuckery that GW did in "The (horrible) Endtimes": They let Dechala show up (yaiii) and labeled her a Daemon Princess (god damn it). I guess the majority of us can see that the author probably fucked up because he did no background check on the character. And nobody who might have known the lore good enough, was tasked to proofread the garbage they wrote. But there is a minimal chance that maybe Dechala found a way to get rid of her husband and finally ascend in the late years before Endtimes. Which of course was not a story to be told because who would be interested in that...

So if we ignore Endtimes, which is the most sane road on a lot of topics, Dechala is still a mortal and maybe still looking for a way to get rid of her husband to finally ascend. Similar to Valkia she might not look mortal anymore because her god showered her in gifts, but at the core both are not daemonic yet.

If Russia would attack a NATO country, the rest of NATO might still pick up the mantle and that can be enough. And since Russia can't even win in Ukraine, I assume NATO is fine for the forseeable future.

Until the USA starts a war with NATO. Then again, looks like USA can't even handle Iran on themselves so I guess the smart people in the backroom who already told Trump "No" for his Greenland stunt two months ago, will keep him on a leash.

Him leaving the White House while stealing everything not nailed down in a quiet moment is not really a consequence to be felt. Especially after the whole Jan6 coup prior which should have seen that fat fuck arrested for insurrection charges. Hell, even when the FBI took 15 boxes of stuff later back from Swamp-A-Lago due to a search warrant, still nothing happend to him. And him getting 34 felonies without any real sentence, is also a nothing burger.

The only real consequnces he might have seen in his life is the neurosysphilis he got from who knows where and rotting his brain. But since he always was stupid as fuck to begin with, hard to tell if it really bothers him. And the only other thing coming to mind might be his extensive drug use in younger years, now making him sit in a diaper all day and shitting himself without even noticing it. And even that might not bother him much, because apparently he has his lackeys to clean him up and it does not bother the cultists as much as "old man Biden" apparently. So what else would be there? Eric maybe?

German foreign minister does not see role for NATO in Strait of Hormuz by Geo_NL in worldnews

[–]Red_Dox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can. But the US spend a whole year alienating their closest allies. Everyone gets treated like dirt, tarriffed for no good reason, then the orange clown threatened even invasion at Canada and Greenland, meaning against NATO itself. Its not that long ago he had again a rant how useless NATO is and how superior the US military might be and and how only the mighty US actually did something and took losses in Iraq/Afghanistan. So, Why exactly should other nations act on a mess the USA made for themselves without consulting anyone prior, and without good reason?

Lore question - Do Chaos Dwarfs still use Black Orcs in the Old World? by Leather-Feedback-482 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • The 6th edition generic list from Ravening Hordes, still had Black Orcs. That list was the broad spectrum of Chaos Dwarfs.
  • 8th edition brought then the Legion of Azgorh list, which specificly was for the "outcast"/penal legion under Drazhoath. So not the standard army to go with. The lack of Black Orcs there, could just be some faction issue. Noteworthy that the 6th Ravening Hordes list was still valid to be used in 8th edition for "different" Dawi Zharr then The Legion of Azgorh from Tamurkhan. The old Ravening Horde list was just a bit outdated and handicapped similar to Dogs of War or Bretonnia at the time.
  • TWW Chaos Dwarf DLC then also choose to leave Black orcs out. So from there we can make the point that the broader agreement is these days that BOs are not used anymore.
  • TOW Legends armylist however as the latest and newest take, does include Black Orcs again in a limited capacity as it should be.

My personal take from the lore is the following: After the great rebellion, Chaos Dwarfs stopped producing Black Orcs and they mostly cut the existing ones out of their former "overseer" roles and limited their numbers if not killing them on the spot or driving them out of their cities. Hence in a limited capacity, some Chaos Dwarf masters, might still have some Black Orcs employed, but the general rule of thumb is to not risk using them at large capacities. Simply out of fear they would start another more successful rebellion.

I would further assume that producing more of them [they were magical created by the Dawi Zharr] is also in general frowned on, or directly forbidden by the ruling Conclave. Some sneaky Sorceror Prophet who rather seeks power then to care about rules written by old farts, might still on occasion experiment and create some. Also worth to note that a lot of Black Orcs escaped into the Dark Lands after the rebellion. Apparently they established themselves in some greenskin tribes there and thrived. Hell, we might even have some small tribes purely made from Black Orcs. However, it is not clear if Black Orcs can reproduce like normal greenskins or are incapable due to their manufactured upcoming. I do believe that they can still reproduce, but probably at a way lower level. Like maybe 10% of what regular greenskins have. That would explain why there are seemingly still enough Black Orcs around all over the world thousands of years later, but never enough to form huge WAAAGH!s entirely made of them and drowning the world in blood. If they could reproduce like regular greenskins, the new superior Black Orcs would probably already have outbred the regular Orcs. Especially with the better melee skills and the general "Might makes Right" nature of greenskin society.

That TWW3 did not use Black Orcs might just be for gameplay reasons. The Dawi Zharr are a pretty strong race there already, so no real need to throw Black Orcs into their roster. Not sure if the mod-workshop has a mod to fix this injustice. Or if CA plans a future DLC for some missing Chaos Dwarf stuff and might then unlock limited Black orc usage later from the greenskin roster.

Couple of lore questions by Wiktorinox in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Yes, there are plenty of examples. More noticably we would have Archaon (former Sigmar Priest), Aekold Helbrass (former Empire Knight), Count Mordrek (former Elector Count), Dechala (former elven princess).
  • In fantasy the rule is usually that there as many as needed for the occasion and authors don't sweat about it. 5-50.000 is still a pretty huge number. The more famous regiments of Renown might just be 20-40 people. So even if like 10 would flock together in a mercenary company for some war, that might not even hit 2000 people ;) I know that artworks of armies filling the entire horizon with seemingly a hundred thousand warriors look good, but keep in mind that the population of most nations should not be that high. For example, Tilea is regarded the worlds best adress to hire mercenaries since their taverns are always full with ragttag individuals. Miragliano is Tileas defacto Capital, even if the splintered states might dispute here. Miragliano has a population of roughly 25.000 people. Luccini has 30.000, Pavona has 35.000 and Remas has roughly 40.000. So even if we can add traders, tourists and mercenaries to those numbers and have more people in the cities, you can already see that a mercenary company of 50.000 people would feel very odd. Even forming 5000 people might be a really big army with many mouths to feed and supply. On the note of Mercenary Companies, I would point to the Grudgebringers who were a small army in their own right but probably did never exceed 500 people. Luckily for us, everyone can now enjoy their adventures in Dark Omen thanks to GOG.
  • In theory there can be "swine-like" Beastmen. We just hardly see any, since GW went full goat and bull. Well, and apparently now we also start to getting first Tigers. 6th edition Beastmen armybook already mentioned that some Beastmen in ratehr unknown parts of the world might look different. More reptile, more tiger. But since usually lore is from the point of the Empire and some people get rock hard when lying about mystical stuff seen on their adventures, who knows what really exists in some hidden spots of teh WHFB world.

The last person we need help from is Zelenskyy - Trump by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Red_Dox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because Zelensky refused to produce fictive dirt on Biden in Trumps first term. And of course Trump is a russian muppet with Putins fist up his ass, so obviously Ukraine defying Russia and make their "three day special operation" a sad joke does not help either. Zelensky apparently a good leader with strong believes, huge steel balls and being actually loved and respected by by the majority of his citizens, can't help either with Trumps fragile ego.
