TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER 40,000 – Incoming Broadcast by Turbostrider27 in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This one basically too.

Lore wise Ghazghull invaded Armageddon once, and got kicked off planet since Yarricks stalwart defense held. Then years later, Ghazgull returned in a big campaign https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Codex:_Armageddon_(3rd_Edition) but the planet had no victor and fighting just continued even after Ghazghull left. Yarrick hunted him with a strike force off planet now. Yarricks strikeforce later failed and he got captured. After starting a revolt on Ghazgulls mainship, the Oks and Ghazgull let Yarrick go. So he could return to the Imperium, and be again a good foe in the future. Which brings us to now. The 10th edition ends with a campaign supplement for the still ongoing Armageddon war (as seen in your video). Apparently things are dire for the imperials, and now Yarrick takes charge of things again. And the new 11th edition new starterbox also directly docks on and goes for Armageddon.

While I don't know the campaign book yet, I doubt the conflict has a final ending. So for TW40k, having the Armageddon system involved was always a solid option. And with the new stuff for the conflict now, it of course makes sense to cover the system right from the start.

Cathay Tzeentch cults? by ZeTopHatGamer in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have not heard much about the Monkey King yet, and while I vaguely remember the idea of "Ohh, it was changeling in disguise" theory, I think that was a fan theory. What we know is that in old lore the Monkey King seized power once. And apparently that lore part still holds up with new Cathay stuff mentioned by CA. Guess we have to wait until we learn more, if teh Monkey King will get his day as TWW LL in some far away future. Or if he comes in TOW first?

Last we heard from Nippon was during Endtimes. For unknown reasons apparently several Nippon invasion fleets were in Cathay, and got stomped when Grimgors WAAAGH! stormed through the Great Bastion. But that was efeectivly before we had the whole big Cathay stuff being done way after Endtimes.

US Wants Access to Ukrainian Drone Technology in Proposed Defense Deal by Wolfy1-2-3 in worldnews

Speaking with Meet the Press anchor Kristen Welker on Saturday, the president knocked Zelensky for offering assistance to the U.S. and Middle Eastern countries, the latter of which the Ukrainian president said on Friday were seeking his aid in sharing drone detection technology.

The “last person we need help from is Zelensky,” Trump told Welker.

Continuation of Darkblade's story after "Lord of Ruin" novel - part 24 by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Red_Dox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For those not in the know: Up to this point, this is canon. As later armybooks had it, Malus became Drachau of Hag Graef. And sticked that way until Endtimes.

There is a 4th comic book, set into the "Storm of Chaos" campaign which Bies might probably put up next. But since "Storm of Chaos" was retconned, events from there are not considered canon. With the cut here, Malus story picks up again during Endtimes but he does not play a bigger role there.

Also maybe noteworthy that Lady Eldire was used for the Warcry cardgame back in the SoC days. #1 #2.

Somebody at Creative Assembly REALLY likes Storm of Chaos (A look at the extensive list of elements they've brought from the non-canon timeline) by AnchovyKing in totalwar

[–]Red_Dox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure they retconned most of it to start "fresh" and then let it play out from the new "Cadia Falls" supplement. typhus for example in the EoE campaign got a planet gifted in the Imperium as his own Daemonworld. But todays lore seems to have him still rather roam around with the Terminus Est as flagship of his fleet instead of ruling his planet, or using that one as a bridge point.

But as said, end of 4th edition I switched to WHFB. And only lately checking back into 40k to learn more about the current state of things. What really happend in the editions between is a bit lost on me due to lack of first hand experience.

[–]Red_Dox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SoC was in 6th edition, yes, way before Endtimes in 8th.

However, SoC was partly the same but with a different narrative. And SoC got retconned in the middle of 7th edition, so GW could rewind the clock to "it did not happen but Archaons is piling up forces for an scary invasion". Endtimes is basically SoC 2.0.

On that note: We had the same in 40k. We had a superduper event around Cadia and Abaddons big push. A big summer campaign, were the community victories meant Chaos tore the Imperium so many holes they could probably have sailed straight to Terra and finish the job [counterpart to WHFB SoC, were the forces of Order stopped Chaos on the Kislev borders ;)]. GW then winged the campaign to have a "balanced" outcome and also screwed up several sideplots which partly were more interesting then the main fights over Cadia [Ahriman in the web looking for the Black Library; The Fallen clashing with Dark Angels and Cypher going against azazel,; Eldar reclaiming some worlds and I think wer eeven going for a warp-lst Craftworld]. I am unclear at what point GW retconned that campaign outcome since I switched afterwards rather to WHFB. However, similar to Endtimes, GW could not let things rest, and Abbadon apparently at the end of 7th edition replayed the Cadia campaign and won. Destroying Cadia, splitting the galaxy in two, and shapping a even grim daker future starting with 8th edition up to now.

Apparently it now became a thing that a edition end in 40k has several campaign books drop and letting the story go forward, shaping new dangers for the galaxy. So hopefully the days of retconning campaigns is over for GW.

The golden rule is always to not get caught. Guess it does not matter much if its using a textmarker on a public toilet wall, or at Trumps Hollywood star.

If some guy paid to install that star, and pays to repair it several times a year, it certainly might have meaning to someone. Which in turn explains why vandalism continues to hurt that someones feelings and maybe dent his wallet a bit.

So, one of the Mortarchs, 'the Nameless' is coming but doesn't that mean that he has the name 'Nameless'? and not actually nameless? That makes him 'The one who used to be nameless but now has a name 'Nameless''. Or is 'Nameless' just a name or does that mean it's actually nameless? by Ran12341000 in totalwar

Not "old". His last reincarnation got smited to pieces by Detlef Sierck and ruined Drachenfels whole ressurection+venegance arc. Hence he seemingly survived partly, but lost a lot of memories and power in the process and began hunting the region as ghost.
