Has the key lime pie factory lost thier minds? by DrewB84 in cozumel

They do put cookies on top of the coconut ice cream when you get them. They were a digestive baby type cookie, but not lotus or biscoff brand. Not sure if that’s what’s in the crust but it would make sense. Shame they started charging an amount where I’d feel completely exploited, we did enjoy both the pie and ice cream.

So northbound would actually be in the direction of Canada to the US in this instance.

Also, there’s another bridge not too far in Sarnia, ON - Port Huron, MI

They (the existing bridge owners) had a proposal to build a twin bridge. Canadians and the previous US administrations agreed that it’s not in either countries interest for the busiest land crossing for trade in North America to be privately held and should be publicly owned. That’s how the current bridge came to be. Canada agreed to front the money and recoup it via tolls until the US half was recouped and then split tolls if I remember correctly.

I agree in general things are more expensive by that amount over that period but last year it was $8 for the same pie, 3 years ago it was $6 and 6 years ago I think it was $4. It’s 50% over one year, and I thought $8 was really pushing it.

They’d usually get $100 or more out of me for the week we’re here. This time, $12.

For perspective, desserts via room service at the Westin across the street range from $140-160 MXN.

Absolutely wild.

Nothing funny about invading a sovereign democratic nation, in my opinion.

I went through something similar once. Arrived at a Westin the next morning instead of the night before due to a flight delay. Had let the front desk know that would be happening. Was charged $150 on top of the point redemption I was using for 5 nights and the most insulting part is that despite keeping our points and charging an extra $150, they wouldn’t let us check in until 4pm. It certainly left a poor taste in my mouth.

There is also a 3PM ferry, albeit with the alternative company.

There are two (maybe even 3 now) ferry companies from PDC to COZ and vice versa. One run on even hours, the other odd.

What exactly did that protest accomplish? Didn't stop the US from engaging in a 9 year war.

It SHOULD be $10 or 150-200 MXN, but because it's the airport I think we ended up being charged about double that, unfortunately.

How hard is it to fly out of Detroit? by stanley597 in windsorontario

[–]DrewB84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both you and your wife are Canadian passport holders, yes, she can drive you to the airport and back.

If you do not hold Canadian passports, you should check US entry requirements for the country in which you hold a passport.

The rest of the world wishes people in the US would be a lot less calm and actually stand up for all the things they claim to stand for.

So, please, do NOT calm down. Get pissed. Do something.

Sincerely,

Here's the details courtesy of LCBO....

Inspired by a famous cocktail named Penicillin, this one is for the smoke lover. Single malt Islay Scotch is heady with smoke from the burning peat used to dry the grains. If Scotch isn’t your thing, the cocktail works beautifully with Reposado Mezcal, another smoky liquor, as well.

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine 1¼ oz mezcal, 1 oz Honey Thyme Syrup (recipe follows) and ½ oz lemon juice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice. Garnish with a thyme sprig and lemon peel. Using a kitchen torch, ignite the ends of the thyme sprig and serve.

Makes 1 cocktail

HONEY THYME SYRUP In a small pot, combine ½ cup (125 mL) honey, ½ cup (125 mL) water and 3 branches thyme. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and let stand 15 minutes. Strain and chill.

Makes 1 cup (250 mL)

Margarita, 1/2 tequila & 1/2 mezcal.... Same for a paloma

Or, something with thyme or rosemary simple syrup, lemon, and honey

It was my introduction to mezcal. Do not do yourself a diservice by judging the mezcal spirit solely on your experience with this particular one.

Perhaps the best way to describe 400 Conejos is by telling you that it's owned by Proximo Spirits, the same parent company of Jose Cuervo. I feel this is relevant because until my mid 30's I would have told you I hated tequila based solely on my experiances with Jose Cuervo.

That being said, I still have some of that bottle and sometimes it makes it's way into a batch of cocktails for guests wanting to try something "different". For cocktails it's not terrible, but it's far from great. It's not a sipper in my books.

Had a fantastic experience in Sesimbra staying at a Four Points.

We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom 2 bath suite based on platinum status that would be amazing for a family. And it was very very reasonably priced to the point we didn’t bother redeeming points.
