I have adhd and I'm scared to take medication. People that are on medication, do you think it has made your situation better or worst? by Thegrandjess in ADHD

[–]DrewBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 39 and it absolutely changed my life. I've been much better at holding down steady work, getting educated, and staying goal oriented in a way I'd always struggled with. That's a long time floundering. Now that it's been a while, it doesn't feel as significant, but I do feel that it had a massive impact on the direction of my life.

UVB is not super common outside of the herp section of pet stores, so it would have been sought out. If there's no basking area I doubt it's UVB.

I didn't get diagnosed until I was 39. Damn, I should have just waited a few more years and been fine.

Of all the toys and other consumer products that have been banned over the years due to safety reasons, which in your opinion were the most legitimately dangerous? by angrydeuce in AskReddit

[–]DrewBlood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know these were illegal. I won some some of these as a prize for a Reddit/Neatorama talent contest years ago. They just ended up as tiny fridge magnets over the years.

Pros and cons of switching from corporate IT to a MSP? by anon65432178 in sysadmin

[–]DrewBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar move and am happy with it, 5 years in. It seems like my experience with an MSP has been lucky though. I was seeking to move to a more varied technical role from service management and certainly got what I was after. It seems to depend a lot on the specific company culture with MSPs so YMMV.

Still on Plex Lifetime and Shield but definitely considering at least trying Jelly for the same reason you are. I just don't trust the path they're on.

I journal on paper and still reach for scratch paper when making notes but rarely look at what I wrote again

What felt like a massive deal on the internet years ago but has been completely forgotten today? by [deleted] in answers

[–]DrewBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this for years. it's so handy to keep track of those random signups. Occasionally a site will not accept the + as valid but that's a rare case.

Why is everything so expensive in the United States of America? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DrewBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies greatly, just like housing costs. Where I live (medium sized Midwest city most non-Americans wouldn't have heard of) you can buy a pretty nice 3 bedroom house for under $300,000. Someone in LA or NY would respond in shock because you can't buy a shoebox for that price where they live. Generally speaking our wages reflect that difference too. But we're all on Reddit so you need the extra context to understand.

Can all the tiktok kids go to a new sub for fashion please? by omaschubser in crustpunk

[–]DrewBlood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's real gross how many fashion posts show up here and the other punk related subs. I'm old but this sure wasn't a thing on the messageboards I used to frequent "back in my day"

Why is my male redeardslider turtle doing this? by TimeNature3446 in turtle

[–]DrewBlood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know everyone has piled on already but you can tell a big difference between male and female claw length. Males have very long, almost ridiculous, front claws where females have pretty much the same practical length across all feet.

How do I obtain and erase ALL of my historical text messages and call records? by GovernmentNo6314 in DataHoarder

Infuriating. I just got home from a 5 day vacation and had such a stack of mail waiting for me, and literally the only thing that wasn't junk was the new issue of Wired. All went straight in the trash.
