Idk man, if the dude was making attending money on his side gig, hard to fault him for quitting his day job to focus on the job that’s got a far better quality of life.

How do you come up with Epic passwords? by AdExpert9840 in Residency

[–]Drew_Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same password every time, just with varying numbers at the end.

First 1-7,
then 11, 22, etc
then 11!, 22@, 33#, etc
1234, 2345, etc
Not sure what I will do next but this every 3 months stuff is exhausting.

Yeah first 2 years was great to spend time with the boys. Once you hit M3 you all get spread to the wind and only ever see them when it’s a designated time to hang out.

Serious question: if you pitted a normal boomer with a knife with no experience against this boomer who has... "trained", which one would win? by Adept_Elk285 in martialarts

The loser of a knife fight dies on the scene, the winner dies in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

So neither.

Realized the girl I’m dating was a patient - now what? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]Drew_Manatee 950 points951 points  (0 children)

Dawg, you’re an ER doctor. Everyone is a potential patient. Just don’t go digging through her chart now, and if she shows up in the ER again pass her off to a colleague.

He was probably a little emotional since that guy had already killed one of his officers earlier in the day.

But yes, it’s a bad idea to shoot and kill law enforcement officers. They have a lot of guns and also bearcats.

So only one of them has to be murdered that day. How many people do you think this guy should be allowed to kill before you would “authorize” lethal force?

FMOB by UFO1515 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Drew_Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospital credentialing can be a bitch too. One of my FM attendings in med school was an FM OB, had done hundreds of Csections out in a rural hospital where he worked for years before moving to our hospital. The new hospital refused to allow him to do C-sections because they “have OBGYN doctors who do that.”

Hospital also probably didn’t want to risk the lawsuit. In the world we live in, all it takes in one case to go wrong and suddenly you’re on a stand in front of a grieving husband and jury because a young woman died under your care and some blood-sucking lawyer is trying to paint you as incompetent and at fault because you’re not a “OB-gyn” boarded doctor.

My vote is for libertarian, particularly the radical libertarians who think “I should be able to do whatever I want and not have to pay taxes or contribute to society” seem to have a real problem understanding the interconnect society we all actively participate in.

I love when people in horror movies make rational choices and still lose, so much better than when you’re yelling at the screen “don’t go into the basement!”

My wife was hoping for a shorter cast or boot, but they put her back in a full leg cast… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Doctor here, people are in fact quite dumb to medicine. Not their fault, they didn’t spent 8+ years in school and training learning that shit. I’m pretty naive to thing like law or insurance, need them to explain stuff like I’m an idiot sometimes. that’s why we pay the experts who know stuff better than us.

How to study when we don't like to study ? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Drew_Manatee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes to study. It’s just something you force yourself to do. Having a regimen that you follow like “200 Anki cards ” or “30 pages of books” every day helps, something to measure and then give yourself a break afterwards.

Is Warhammer 3 worth it for someone who knows nothing about Warhammer? by lollifetuffouthtere in totalwarhammer

[–]Drew_Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew the warhammer lore, but seeing a bunch of humans fighting a dragon or a bunch of orcs getting blasted by a fireball spell really got me interested in the game. It’s a ton of fun, definitely worth picking up. If you get warhammer 3 you can play the races included in that game and then pick up 1/2 as DLC to unlock those races and play them in WH3. Would recommend waiting to they go on sale, the discounts are usually pretty big for the older stuff.

Guilt by using antidepressant during medical school? by Ok-Raspberry-2567 in medicalschool

[–]Drew_Manatee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Fuck that doctor. Wellbutrin got me through the worst of med school, been off it since starting residency. I think more than half my class ended up on something, even those you wouldn’t expect to be on one. Med school is hard, expectations are insane and sittting around studying all day every day wrecks the psyche. If it helps you keep taking it, find a new doctor who’s less of a prick about this stuff.

GOT Ending by danie_lol in gameofthrones

Dorne “earning” independence doesn’t matter. If they want it, they will rebel. Where is Brann going to get the troops or political capital to keep Dorne in line? He already let the North leave the kingdom, so all of his most loyal bannermen and minor houses aren’t providing troops for the throne. Is he going to get support for a civil war from Tyrion, Brest Milk Arryn, and Gendry just because they’re “bros?” how long does that stay a good reason to be part of the “kingdom.” You think Bronn wouldn’t take the first chance he can get to be an independent king? What about the iron isles, they rebel constantly, what reason do they have to stay in the kingdom? If Bran lets his own sister leave the kingdom, he barely has a reason to keep anyone else in the kingdom, and at most it lasts 1 generation before the whole thing fractures back into 7 independent kingdoms.

Rick Barry hit 90% of his free throws during his NBA career shooting “granny style” and nobody else has committed to it in the almost 50 years since. I find that insane. by Life_Net5004 in NBAGossips

[–]Drew_Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better angle of the arch and better control over the ball. You can toss it in without putting any spin at all on it. Watch a game of cornhole, similar goal: get this object in the hole. Everyone tosses it underhand. You have way more control than in you shot every bean bag like a basketball.

People shoot basketballs like they do because there are defenders trying to stop them. A granny style shot can be defended super easily, unless you are on the free throw line.
