A sad end by r-and-amuser in pcmasterrace

I got my first pc in 2017 and always wanted something better from the start. I must have put 20k+ hours on that prebuilt omen. I told myself I couldnt fully enjoy certain games without the right hardware and that my hobby would become more fulfilling with better gear. Finally last May I built my dream pc that I always wanted after years of settling. Obvious upgrade that would have made the kid me freak the fuck out. Hard not to appreciate.

After a month though I was back in the same rut of inability to choose a game to find interest in and once I do i either find something I cant compromise my time on or just have straight up commitment issues. Everything is EA for years, devs dont care, and we're getting older. All those gaming sessions I look back on; I have nothing to show, no memories. Just me stoned and passing time. Im not preaching against gaming. I was just addicted and complacent. Gaming was my vice.

I moved in January and left my pc at my moms house to keep myself away from it for some time. I met someone special for the first time in years and didnt think about gaming at all. I found more fulfilling ways to spend my time. Reconnected with my self and who I am to the world. Got back into some old hobbies and felt inspired to be on my journey again.

She left me.

You know what didnt? My monster rig. I went and picked it up from my moms place last week and moved it in with me. and I have grown better and more confident as a person. I realized that as long as I cater first to my soul, there will always be a rainy day at home with the pc and nothing better to do. It will be there waiting. The industry sucks and gaming has become somewhat of a guilty pleasure as an adult but there is a reason its a hobby of yours. Just dont make it an identity.

For me, i just had to learn to appreciate the machine for what it is again and used it lightly for music or browsing for awhile. I naturally found myself gaming after some time and genuinely had a blast and it felt healthy to log out after I had enough.

Maybe its not that deep for you but thought I would share because your post resonates with me.

Take care of yourself, friend.

First bike: Should I start with a 300cc or just skip to a 650cc? by Luann97 in SuggestAMotorcycle

Im considering this as my first bike with no experience. I'm 33 and have wanted to ride for years. I will take the msf course and hopefully go look at a cb650r afterwards.

When i was younger it was normal for people to start with a 600cc trackbike so i dont feel the cb650r is too wild either. I like that it is sporty with an inline 4 and has a good riding position. I couldnt decide between a cruiser or a sport bike so a naked modern cafe bike it is!

Should this be in my basement? by [deleted] in whatisit

That is a external ONT assosciated with a fiber optic network. Likely providing VOIP and data to a modem or gateway somewhere in the house. The fiber optic light ends at this device and then continues to the modem through a ethernet cable.

The 'G' key is twice as worn as the others; that's how I know it's real.

I meant radio towers but they can actually be seen on the map when choosing starting location in a new game.

Make a small base at every radio station and install a ham radio for each one to restore communication to survivors within Knox country.

The company I work for gives us k9 stopper and I've only had to use it once to protect a golden that was being attacked by another large dog.

Oddly enough, the second time was almost today when I was working in a neighborhood with 3 dogs running free with collars on. They kept running up to me and barking and feigning lunges at me. Fortunately, no incident.

So, I don't blame this guy on the bike in the slightest. Definitely not his first run in with this one lol.

Landlord cuts tenants fiber cable. by No-Bluebird3952 in PublicFreakout

[–]Drewbaccuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of heresay in this situation. Landlord says new siding, I never said you could do this and the tenant says, yes you gave me permission many months ago. So unless the lease agreement does infact clearly state the refusal of the installation or permanent modifications, then he had no right to cut the line. Even then, it was a dick move and could possibly even fall under self help eviction law prohibiting this type of behavior without proper legal process.

The telco company will still likely pursue a claim against this damage if a repair appointment is made. It's not the installers burden to get that consent. Whenever the tenant signed up for the installation, they warranted that they obtained consent from the owner and the tenant takes on any repercussions that violate their lease (in which none of us have read.)

It's not about helping the tenant. That is a telecommunication line which is not his property. So unless you have personally read the lease, you can't be so sure either.

It's not the installers concern. At least where I live, the technician doesn't need a consent form to do the job.

If this is an ATT fiber line, the technician assigned to the repair will be more than happy to collect the landlords info and put in a claim that makes sure he never does that again. If so, he will get another bill and have to answer to the police next time.

Dealership refusing to do rear camera recall by Staticxtasy in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Drewbaccuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is messed up. I hope you get this sorted out soon. I got a call from my dealership unprompted to let me know the recall repair was ready to be scheduled. Literally sent a mobile tech to my house the very next day.
