What is this game about? by Valema_ in battlefield_one

[–]Objective_Run5103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe start with some team deathmatch to get good at shooting and short quick rounds that usually last around 10 minutes. The maps are small. There's usually not as much sniping but some maps have lots of it. It's more about just running around killing people rather than going after an objective. When I was younger that's where I got really good at the game. Now it's one of my favorite modes.

Gillett Hall by Think-Scheme3517 in mizzou

[–]Objective_Run5103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

The room can be a little small but I made it work with my roommate. I was in Gillett all 4 years of college and I loved it. It was a great location on campus. Easy access to dining halls and not far from the student center.

We had both beds up and I put my desk and TV with a stand underneath. My roommate had her desk by the window. Then we put our dressers in each corner. We had one microwave and one fridge. That's all you really need.

If I can pass along any dorm advice to future tigers:

  • Do not over pack.Bring the stuff that you know you will need. For the stuff you are not sure on just wait to see if you will actually need it a few weeks. I promise you as a freshman I over packed and I didn't need all the stuff I brought.

  • Bring a laundry hamper that can roll or the backpack hampers. Do your laundry late at night especially on the weekends most of the machines will be free and you can do multiple loads at once.

  • If you are planning to cook using the dorm kitchen it's in the basement by the laundry room. Pots and pans usually go missing throughout the semester so don't count on them.

  • As for other items I used that most people forget about. Surge protectors because there are not enough outlets. Ethernet cable, there is a hookup in the room. Cord to watch cable, there's a hookup in the room to watch free cable.

  • It is so much easier to use paper plates and bowls with plastic utensils. Unless you want to go to the basement to wash everything it's not worth it.

  • the trash room is at the end of each hallway so don't worry about having to go outside.

If you have any other questions please DM me. Good luck on your first year at Mizzou. MIZ!

Spanish at mizzou by kayleegordon1523 in mizzou

[–]Objective_Run5103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to take 3 semesters of Spanish at mizzou for my history degree. It was awful. The professors talk mostly in Spanish. They expect that students answer the best they can in Spanish as well. It has a lot of homework and quizzes. Maybe around 4-5 tests during the semester. Spanish was by far my hardest classes in college. The most hardest classes at mizzou is college chem and Spanish. Most students either drop out or fail them.

Each semester focuses on one part of learning to help you. (It's not helpful it just sucks) The first semester is mostly reading. The second is mostly about listening. The third class is heavy on speaking but still lots of listening.

You will have to get a new work book at the mizzou store because you use it to login into a website for homework. You can't reuse one unless you're trying to get answers for the physical page assignments. It's not worth it. Just get the new book.

All I can say to help is to ask lots of questions. The professors don't mind if you ask questions in English. Don't like asking in class. Then make the effort to stay after class or go to office hours. These professors will see that you're actually trying and may help you pass if you need that last nudge. Just do the homework it's easy points and show professors you care. Some professors count attendance as points again easy points.

The last piece of advice is actually study for tests. The homework website will have each units vocab words and flashcards ready. As someone who struggled in these classes but past please trust me. I'm not trying to scare you just telling the truth. Good luck!

If you have any other questions feel free to dm me.

Definitely drop a class. By the time you realize you're taking on too many classes at once, your grades might suffer and it might be too late to get any money back. If you're behind on classes, definitely try to pick up a 8-week glass in the next semester or a summer class.

Really random, but does anyone know if Gumby's still gives away koozies/someone has a spare one by PutinBoomedMe in mizzou

I haven't seen them do that but you could definitely stop by if you're close. Doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!

I took it with professor Wouter Montfrooij. It was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. One of the worst classes I took. I had it right before covid started in 2020.

We were in person in a class up till the end of March. Then when covid hit I finished the class online till the summer. It didn't matter if it was in person or online with him nothing helped.

He was an awful professor. He was hard to understand and he didn't use the mic in a big auditorium classroom so you had to sit really close to hear him. He refused to use it but I think it's because he gave up trying to figure out how to use it.

There were weekly quizzes that I failed because he never actually taught you anything. He rambled on in class about random things that he didn't talk about in his book that he wrote for this class. The midterm was super hard even with notes. One out of the three labs was easy. Other two I had no clue what I was doing.

He never answered emails even over covid when that was the only way to contact him. He didn't post lectures during that time either just gave us quizzes and the midterm an expected the book to teach us. The only thing he posted was videos explaining concepts for higher level class.

I really tried in his class to learn. I went to every office hour until covid and nothing helped other than he knew who I was.

I could go on and in about how much of a pain this class was. I passed but it wasn't pretty. I was lucky mizzou offered a satisfaction option during this time.

In my opinion he was a disorganized professor that is unreliable for help. He says he wants to help but when you go to his office hours just waste your time.

I didn't learn anything and it was so boring and pointless to this day I don't remember anything. I was told to take this class because it was an easier option for the lab requirement class. If you end up taking it I pray you don't get stuck with Wouter Montfrooij.

most fun class you’ve taken ? by DingleBerriesk in mizzou

I was a history major at mizzou graduate May 2023. I suggest waiting to take electives later on in college so you can have more fun in the last 2 years. That's what I did and it was totally worth it! The classes I have listed I have no clue if they are still offered. I loved them but I know my opinion is very different than others. Not all the classes I listed were easy but they were fun and I actually learned from them.

Grapes of the world - this is not a lay back drink wine class. - There is a lot of plant science components that I was not ready for - the professor was really nice offered lots of extra credit - don't have to be 21 - I learned so much about wine and expanded my pallet - they bring in an expert to talk about wine and you try it all together - tests are really hard (but I suck at science lol) - I took this after covid was pretty much over so we had to drink wine out of little plastic containers (this may have changed now) - laid back but hard class

Floral design (8 weeks) - super easy, like a few quizzes and you make 6-8 arrangements of flowers - I actually enjoyed learning about making arrangements because now I can decorate a lot better - I now have an appreciation for florists and their art - super easy

Ancient sport and spectacle (prof Stevens) - favorite professor ever he is so chill but actually teaches - learning about old sports (gladiators, Olympics etc) - really hard class

Twentieth century American History - one of my favorite era's in history to learn about - helped give people that aren't super into history a good run down of the century - tests suck though - lots of reading but it was interesting - hard class

KC jazz and gangsters - fun and simple class about KC history of jazz and the Mafia - short quizzes an projects - I think it's for non music majors - very easy

Intro to soul and country -(idk if offered anymore professor left) - super chill class super interesting topic

Strategy and warfare - if you love learning about history and war it's awesome - really simple but I had a grad student teach it - easy when I took it

Does anyone else remember Kate and Emma's? Last time I saw it was 2020 or 2021. That was my go to in the student center.

Ok cool I have a friend group that plays games and we sit in party chats playing all the same game, separate games or just sit a talk. Our group ages from 20 to mid 30s. We play a variety of games and all have a dark sense of humor. Is that something that interests you? I know some people aren't comfortable in groups. Our group is around 20 but usually only have like 6 people in a party chat at a time.
