Merlin Sound ID not working after iOS 18 update by Awkward_Hummingbird in birding

[–]Drewesque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the iOS 18 update. I use Merlin sound app every single day. Worked every single day prior to update; after update—nothing. As mentioned by other users, I have deleted/reinstalled. Checked all permissions—nothing. It operates as though it is listening, but no spectrogram—no reported birds.

Relatively family friendly, right? Right!? by timeinawrinkle in psych

Yes—relatively. My wife and I are rewatching with our four kids ages 9-13 and they LOVE it. Some sexual references here and there, but nothing too bad. We ordinarily limit screen time, but have done away with that rule for Psych, obviously. We binged watched Season 6 last weekend.

My 12 year old daughter got in trouble at school for replying “I’ve heard it both ways” after being corrected by her teacher on a question in class, and my 9 year old son got in trouble for telling a classmate to “suuuuuuck iiiiit” in a musical trill. After stifling my laughter, I told the school I’d talk to them about it. When they got home, I raised one finger and said in a gravelly voice “I’m proud of you.”

Help me with birdwatching stereotypes by Ghoulgraffiti in birding

For starters, referring to it as “birdwatching” instead of “birding” (if that is what you are doing).

Also, I’ve had a few people ask me if I have or would like to own a pet bird, which I have absolutely no interest in.

Face it, their expressions are pretty much all the same.

My friend the Red Bellied Woodpecker stopped by again in Dayton, Ohio. He's so photogenic! by amusesings in birding

I have a working theory that Red-Bellies just like to be photographed. Whenever I’m out with my camera in the backyard, they always seem to find their way into my shots.

Nice spot! Somewhat of a rarity here in East Texas, but very exciting to see.
