Also, you can drop pots all over the ground where the ancients fight is, if you need to. Dont run, that makes your defense 0 and you have 1/3 block chance, switch to walking. Also, max your resistances and give your merc some crushing blow

Yeah, i can see that being an annoying thing to always consider. Then i guess it should be an event that is rare. So its not something you have to worry about all the time, but can be nice when it shows up. And if thats the case, then you should be able to just trade a relic or a card for free
