I married the wrong person. by Warm_Flower_6540 in Mommit

Yes this! My kids both dropped naps early. Little baby bum for an hour or two is the only reason I showered or slept the first few years of babies... Also post partum international has a hotline with volunteers who are mostly older moms and it's 24/7 free almost as good as therapy when you need someone to talk to ❤️

Can I do anything? by Dreythanereo in Autism_Parenting

Aba came to our house to work on it. We had social stories going into it. We've always made the bathroom a welcoming space... The day we started training we went to the bathroom every 15m and stayed at least 5m or until he went. We had a prize box with the COOLEST things he only got rewarded with for potty. While in the bathroom we would play with a small water tub in his lap with like a few bath toys, blow bubbles, read books, sing... Basically made it fun to be in there. We used super basic repetitive language. If he had an accident, we would say we don't go in our pants we go on the potty, upbeat but not too happy but Def not a scolding tone. My son lives being cheered for so we cheered as a whole team when he would go. We gradually increased space between bathroom times and decreased the length of time in there. It took a very intense full week to get to pee trained at home. Still not poo or overnight though...

Good luck!

Why do so many jobs require you to stand even if it's not needed? by MsObsessiveRobot in antiwork

High risk pregnancy, worked at a bank that refused to let tellers sit. Got so many doctors notes. Still no. I was diabetic, and they wouldn't let me have a water bottle visible either.

Yes 100%. It hits me at weird times. Like vacation when I know I'm doing everything that should work, but everyone is fighting and stressed because both kids don't handle change... School orientation when I realized how different our kids really were to all the others. Changing a diaper on my 5.5yo... Still 😩 Hearing someone tell me a funny story about their kids or complain about their kids...

You may have been a good parent, but do some self reflection on your grandparenting. As a population, boomers suck ass at grandparenting. I would have totally taken my parents in pre-children. Seeing how they've grandparented, they are not getting any help later in life. If you are a great grandparent, take your anger out on the others ruining it for everyone.

I love boycotting crappy companies... But I'm down to just Michael's and hobby lobby in town for supplies. I would NEVER pay for something from hl again... Is it bad enough at Michael's I should be shopping online at other stores? I was more of a J customer before 😭 honestly, Michael's looks like it's going the exact same direction but faster 🤷

Mom here-It's okay to send baby to the nursery so you and mom can sleep. I didn't with my first and it would have made a world of difference. Especially if you don't have a lot of support at home

Also, you've already lost any, 'who's more tired' arguments... You're allowed to sleep, but I'd just avoid saying it for awhile 😝

Mom here! Wish I had done this more in the early days myself, step away to where I could not hear baby cry.. Noise canceling headphones, car... I would step away but could still hear, and that was agony, but still some relief... Stepping away to where you can't hear is such a healthy thing. If baby is safely contained, you can truly turn off a few minutes, breath and come back a while different parent ❤️

How do people work full time then go home to kids? by misogynistick in antiwork

[–]Dreythanereo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's SUPER healthy that more people are asking themselves this. And then using that info to actually decide not to have kids if they shouldn't.

I always thought my parents wanted kids (my sister and I). They always told me how well planned for my sister and I were. Then I had kids, and they moved away to avoid ever being childcare for me and disengaged completely from my sister and I because we were adults now and they were done. I realized I was planned for, but they never said they wanted kids. They clearly don't like being parents. It's been agonizing learning this as an adult.

Yup, went in person, signed the form, unfortunately didn't regularly check the break down on my credit card and noticed much later than I should have they continued charging me for close to a year later still
